Black Lion Cafe Coffee & Pastry

Absolutely beautiful coffee shop in downtown silver spring. This space was long awaited and exceeded all my expectations. The coffee is great and the space is amazing for working. There is ample space, sunlight and outlets. There are many things on the menu I have yet to try, but am excited to continue exploring. The staff are also very friendly.

What a gorgeous space with the best coffee and delicious food. We've been going to their Gaithersburg location for years to buy their decaf beans (REALLY good). Now that they're so close, and with so many food and amazing pastry options, we'll be back here regularly. Congrats on the opening this week!!

The interior of this cafe is like no other. It is so breathtaking that I saw numerous people who took videos and pictures. Their London Fog was one of the best drinks that I have ever had in my life, as the tea was so flavorful. Their bread pudding was on point, as well! Perfect combination of flakiness and richness. Very happy to have supported this local business. Definitely looking forward to trying their lava cake next time I visit :)

Just got a drip coffee, it was darker than I usually go for but still delicious. The ambience is phenomenal, with plants and tons of seating options- it is decently spacious inside. Writing this just days after it finally opened, will warn that it’s packed; I waited 20 minutes to get my coffee.

The bakery is tasty. The store is nice and clean. However I ordered the latte and iced latte. The latter is too hot and I think it ruined the flavor. The iced latte is bitter. The staff is nice

Such a cute cafe! The smell of the coffee being roasted hits you as you enter the door. The pastries and coffee were delicious. My one complaint was that the flow of coming to the register is not very well thought out and it makes it difficult to know where to line up when there are even just a couple people waiting. It was also hard to see all the pastries that were available to order so we didn’t even see the other desserts until after we sat down! Other than the disappointment of not getting some macarons, we had a great time at this cafe.

Got the special and a mocha. First time coming was crowded. Bakery sections need more trays and should be a designated sign where to put the plates when you dine in. Other than that i'll keep coming to try new things.

Love the coffee, love the breakfast sandwich, love the atmosphere. I love this place. I was in Silver Spring and needed a bite and a place to do some work. Found this on maps, and even though it was a further walk for me than other cafés, I could tell it was where I wanted to go. I'll be back in SS in a couple weeks, and I will be back to Black Lion

Great coffee and pastries! The iced americano was really good with unique flavours. There were a good selection of pastries too and we packed some home.

The cafe is gorgeous but service and drink quality were severely lacking. Cashier messed up the order and management had no grace about the mistake. Tried to gaslight us that we didn’t order 3 drinks and then charged us for the mishap.

If that wasn’t bad enough the drinks were terrible. My chai latte was all milk and the iced coffee had bean bits in it.
