Black Lion Cafe Coffee & Pastry

I Love Black Lion Cafe, the food is amazing and the laid back vibe is a plus.
The pastries are the main attraction centered in the middle of the restaurant in an amazing pastry case, and I mean to tell ya the pastries are absolutely scrumptious and are put out fresh every morning. And don't let me leave out that they have their own pastry Chef who creates the most Devine specialty Cakes, and mouthwatering treats right on site.

Great vibe, excellent coffee, nice menu and baked goods and friendly service. Highly recommended. It is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood!

Great spot to study and have great pastries! Clean and cozy vibe! Need more work with customer service (attentive employees) but aside from that, everything was great! Tiramisu cake is bomb!!!

Really nice coffee shop. The atmosphere is pleasant and cozy, different from the nearby Kaldi's and they have a big space. They have a lot of good looking pastries here (though we didn't try them), and the coffee was good, a darker roast than I usually can find.

Lovely place to grab some coffee and food. I go almost everyday, and it never gets old. The atmosphere is A1 and great for light and even intensive work sessions.

Visited 3/2/23. Nice decor, good food and coffee. However, the tables were filthy. There’s no excuse for this no matter how busy a place gets. And I noticed some of the baristas on their phone when they could have been spending time cleaning tables. Get it together!

Cute cafe, came on a Sunday and it was really busy. All there pastries are really good, but the coffee…… horrible! I got a espresso don panna, and honestly was the most disgusting coffee I’ve ever tasted.

It's a great spot for coffee, sandwiches, and pastries. However, I had to lower my rating because they roast coffee beans without a proper ventilation system.

It's crucial that they ventilate the place whenever they roast their coffee beans (and also build a proper ventilation system) because it can be toxic and detrimental to people's health. I hope they can implement these changes soon so that I can visit this place more often without any health concerns.

Went here many times after they opened. Love the atmosphere, baristas, and the sandwiches made by staff. What threw me off was the cakes made by the pastry chef, I bought one and tried it and it was sour/bitter. Not sure how long that cake had been in there but that is a serious health hazard. I don’t know if the management said it’s okay to leave cake in the fridge for a long time but that is not okay!!!! There was also a time where I see a man restocking the case full of cakes with his bare hands?!? After these incidents I don’t think I want to come back.

Super cute cafe and one of the few coffee shops in silver spring that actually stays open relatively late :'). Pretty solid offering of pastries, sandwiches and coffee
