COME HERE TO BE IGNORED. Stopped in for lunch with my mom. We ordered tea and salads for lunch. After 15 minutes we were served our tea...25 minutes later we still had no salads and the wait staff never asked if we needed anything. Finally went to the counter to find out what was going on, found out they never even put our salads in to the chef. We told them we were leaving and would like a refund. Guess what?! My card was never refunded. So not only did I pay for the entire lunch +tip (pay ahead situation), I also wasted time sitting in a pretentious coffee shop being totally snubbed.

Nestled next to an overpass and a decaying Pepsi factory, there stands an unsuspecting brick building with a hanging sign inscribed with the letter A on it. An A for Artifact, or perhaps the A is meant to embody the establishment's aspirations of setting the highest of standards for themselves.
The word artifact means, an object made by a human being, typically an item of cultural or historical interest. And that is precisely what the makers of this establishment have done. Artifact Coffee is culturally important to Baltimore, but historically their commitment to farm to table and culinary excellence is extraordinary!
Every time I sit down to eat and drink here, my senses are heightened to the fact that I am consuming REAL food and the best representation of that thing. I am not alone, neighborhood birds swarm the powerlines praying to whatever gods birds pray to that some person will drop a crumb of delicious sandwich bread from this hangout spot.
Not only is the food and beverages good, the people who work here are extensions of the establishment. I am genuinely grateful when I get to come in and see familiar faces, and they are always patient as orders are being conceptualized in the minds of patrons. The menu can be for some daunting which is a hilarious thing to contemplate given that it's printed on a double sided piece of paper. But you will want to take in every single thing before making your selection.
Artifact has given me over the years a deeper appreciation for the complexity of a cup of coffee and a surprising admiration for the deliciousness of vegetables. I am forever grateful for the memories I have built here, and I sincerely hope that Artifact outlives me to become a ripe old fossil. :)

Morning coffee is probably the best tasting coffee I've had since moving here 10 years ago 🙂 Very tasty and their variety of pastries are fresh and tasty.
Nice selection of breakfast and lunch choices and you can order and take out or sit in the seating area where someone comes to take your order.
They have a good sized parking lot so no need to look for street parking if it's your first time there (unless it's full of course).

My favorite local coffee shop. The baristas know how to make a perfect traditional macchiato. Their espresso always is perfect. The Poncho and Lefty breakfast sandwich is too good for words.

I usually love this place - BUT yesterday I recieved what was labeled a plain chocolate chip cookie that had peanut butter. I have an allergy that is luckily very mild, and didn't have much of a problem, but the lack of proper labeling on the cookie was very concerning.

The coffee service is excellent. The atmosphere is very hip. The food service is a bit hit or miss, but would still recommend.

Get 'The Italian' sandwich, it's crazy crazy good and their root beer is amazing. The beef is insanely high quality, absolutely delicious, the beefsteak tomatoes are fresh and juicy and sweet and the location is cute and quiet and really quite lovely for such a busy city. Really great place to go for lunch or breakfast, a little pricey but so worth it

Was invited for a post user group meeting dinner over the weekend. One of the most amazing farm to table restaurant with vegetarian options that I came across. I do not know how I missed this place after staying in MD for over 8 years. Best American vegetarian options that I have ever tested in US. Amazing environment, cozy and homely. Best staff friendly accommodating and courteous. Will definitely visit next time I am in MD and would definitely recommend to vegetarians and non vegetarian alike. Coffee and desert options were great. Wine and beer options were awesome as well
