Really good cold brew! Also the sambusas (both veg and beef) were super delicious (spicy and full of love). Come hungry for coffee and good food!

This mom-and-pop shop is an American success story. The owners, who grew up working in the Burundi coffee fields, started in the United States with nothing but asylum. They built up their English and business acumen through adult education and a USM accounting degree before opening up this coffee shop. Their coffee is excellent (not too acidic, hints of five spice powder), but the real treasure is the slice of Burundian community that's being shared here: both the community in Portland and in Burundi.

Love this place, Jocelyne and Andrea are so welcoming and friendly! The cold brew and pastries I’ve tried have been very delicious. They also sell some African cuisine like sambousa and banana soup, which I can’t wait to try.

Welcome to the neighborhood Burundi Star!

EDIT: stopped by on my way to work today and grabbed the avocado toast. Thick cut slices of bread, amazingly crispy exterior, and super soft inside. That house made avocado spread is perfect, too. Huge portion, all for only $6.50, highly recommended!

Amazing, high-quality coffee! Wonderful people as well. Andre was so helpful and told us their inspiring story around how they are working to highlight the delicious coffees of Burundi. Highly recommend, check it out while you're in town!

My favorite local coffee shop! The cold brew is fantastic, as are the sambusas. Super friendly staff as well!

This coffee shop has approximately zero appeal ... until you cross the threshold. Inside, it is bright, clean, and spacious. There were several tables scattered about at very safe distances. The staff was warm and friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back.
They have little meaty hand pies, a few confections, and they have whole bean coffee plus a bit of swag for sale.

Coffee was the best we had during our visit to Portland. We also got a chocolate croissant and a sambusa and they were absolutely delicious. It's a little unassuming from the front but what they produce is stunning. Plus you can't beat the prices!

Probably the best under the radar coffee shop in Portland. Coffee is fantastic and the food is fresh and delicious. The avacado toast is incredible and keeps me coming back.

Great coffee and staff. Wasn't able to grab food this time but after seeing what everyone else was eating will definitely be back to give that a try - looked delicious

The owner is welcoming and friendly. I asked if he had real maple syrup for my coffee and he replied “of course!” The coffee is delicious and hot. Very tasty. I also tried a little triangular empanada-like pocket of spicy beef (not too spicy). It was delicious! Go here!!!!!
