Josie's Country Store & Cafe

I went in today for the first time. I stopped to get my daughter some Laffy Taffy(for a stocking stuffer). The man at the register was so nice. I was 9 cents short and he said he had it not to worry. Thank for your kindness. I will tell everyone what a wonderful store you have. I will be back again.

This place is great! The wait time was FAST!

This is my new favorite place to eat when I'm in the Ellsworth area. Outdoor dining on there patio in their toasty warm enclosure. Extensive menu. Everything we had was delicious. Fun shop to browse (and buy stuff...lol)... You have to go here, you will not be sorry.

The beer selection is fantastic. Everything is cold stored. The walk-in cooler can be tight with multiple people but everyone is friendly and we tend to shuffle around just fine.

The food is amazing as well. The breakfast burrito was one of the best I've ever had. We went for dinner as well and the stirfry was delicious. My wife got the fish and chips and she hasn't found any that she likes more. If you want pizza make sure you order early since they run out on busy days and a ton of people call for take out orders.

Great food, reasonable prices, fantastic staff. (it's a family affair). Everything is super clean. Lots of local-made ice cream available. A surprising large selection of wines and one of the best / fantastic selection of beers available. Not to mention ready-made food, pizza, and convenience items plus dog treats, and lastly, a variety of Asian treats and snacks.

Josie's was recommended to us while in search of meed at another store. So grateful to have learned about this fantastic store. The staff are so amazing and it feels like your home town country store where you meet new and old friends and enjoy a relaxed shopping experience. They have the things you look for in other stores but can't ever find. I have found my new go to from now on!

DISHONEST service -- STAY AWAY!
My husband and I had a laid-back brunch here, and were shocked to find that our check (not including tax or tips) is *50% higher* than what we expected!! After looking at the bill closely, it turned out that:
1) We were charged for an "upgrade" to the omelet platter because I chose feta cheese, one of the cheeses offered on the menu with NOTHING on the menu indicating it would cost extra. No, our waitress did NOT tell us about the "upgraded" charge either;
2) We were charged for another "upgrade" because I chose croissant when our waitress asked for the toast choice and told us I can choose anything she listed (she listed five including croissant). No she did NOT tell us about the "upgraded" charge on this one either;
3) My husband ordered the corned beef platter but didn't want the eggs. He asked whether they can either leave out the eggs or substitute it with something else, and the waitress offered to substitute it with bacon. It turns out, we were charged for ADDING a side bacon, and the full price of the corned beef platter, but we did not get the eggs! That is NOT called a substitute, is it?!
The food was acceptable, but the billing experience ruined the day. In some places in the world this business practice of "sneaking in extra charges on your check to rip you off without telling you" would be considered as fraudulent and illegal.
Definitely would not recommend.

Great fries, good burgers! And a convenience store, to boot. Service took about 30 minutes on a rainy Friday afternoon. I'd come back just for the fries. Burger meat had cooled considerably by the time we got it and our waters were forgotten but otherwise I look forward to coming back to the patio with friends!

The food was absolutely delicious! We cannot wait to go back. Our server was amazing and so helpful! Answered our many questions!

Unbelievably terrible service!! We waited for almost an hour and a half (with a toddler!) after ordering a basic breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast) and a burger. Several tables who were seated after us had been served and left before anything was brought out to us. They were not busy and they had several waitresses and cooks in the kitchen, so we assumed they just forgot our order. The food came out to us lukewarm and they got the cook of the burger wrong (well done vs. medium). When we mentioned the long wait time to the man at the cash register he said it was our fault because we ordered a lunch and breakfast item at the same time... WHAT?!! Even though the other tables that came and went had ordered both lunch and breakfast items?!! Are you kidding me?!! I've already told my family to avoid this place going forward. In hindsight we should have just walked out.
