Polite staff, chill atmosphere, good music. Overall a welcoming and relaxed place, great for a coffee date or getting some work done. I swing by from time to time to enjoy a pour over coffee. My current favorite is the American Gothic.

Excellent coffee, get the pour over. Lots of seating, staff is accommodating. This location is in a strip mall oasis and slightly out of the way. It gets very loud during peak times. Prices are high, but in line with prices in Iowa City. Parking is shared with other businesses and spaces are sparse at times.

Choice place to set up the laptop and get some writing done. Coffee is strong, tastes great; friendly college town atmosphere inside. The '1 hour at a table' rule is flexible, staff are reasonable during less busy times

Quick service and friendly staff. Great atmosphere for chilling out on the laptop, hanging with friends or reading. They do like you to limit your time there to 1 hour, but that's not too much to ask for :) not the cheapest but hey, buying coffee is never cheap

My first time there. Food and service were very good. Areas for improvement include 1) add blue cheese dressing, 2) add build your own half salad, 3) differentiate size of full vs. Half salad - we had one of each and they were about the same size.

Nice place to meet someone for a quick meeting or get some work done.
Like the new edition they put on awhile ago.
WiFi is NOT very good. Got dropped 5 times within the 1 hour I was there, gave up and had to hot spot my cell. Original areas could use an upgrade, couches and tables are pretty worn out but overall a very solid place

Been goin to Heirloom and Java for a few years now and I’m finally over it. If you want to spend extra money for things you’re not gonna get, have rude staff seem just annoyed at your presence, and essentially just waste your own time and money, then go get a salad at Heirloom. I promise you’ll be disappointed. I’ve also heard from staff that they’re treated incredibly poorly and are underpaid. Maybe that explains the bad attitude? The only redeeming factor here is that the coffee side can run decently smoothly and they do have some really good coffee.

Atmosphere was good. Coffee was good. But like everyone says, WiFi isn't working so I couldn't look up things when I was studying while finishing my coffee. Also, I was asked to pour my water from my water bottle to their own cup to drink water out of it, and was told that they usually encourage people to buy it but use the cup this time. I was never asked this kind of question, so I was very confused because usually even tho I don't have my own water bottle, coffee shops offer cup of water when I ask for it. Didn't know if that was always the case from the coffee shops, because I never was asked that from other locations Java house. I like Java house, but I won't go back to this one because all these inconveniences.

Seriously enjoyed chilling and drinking my coffee. But WOW restrooms gross.
And then to see workers standing around chatting. I had them womens was out of to.
They need to check restrooms throughout day and wipe stool and such. Keep it looking tidy. . I am a cleaner. Seeing dust film back top of toilet tank and the back under seat tells me they do NOT properly clean.
Workers need to be trained properly. Especially the restrooms. Where germs build up.
Thanks
