The Java House - Mormon Trek: A Local Coffee Shop Chain with a Health Food Twist
The Java House - Mormon Trek is a local coffee shop chain that has been brewing Iowa City's local coffee blend since 1994. This coffee shop is a great place to grab a cup of coffee, meet up with friends, or get some work done. The Java House - Mormon Trek offers a variety of single-origin brews, espresso drinks, and housemade muffins and scones. The coffee is consistently good, and the staff is friendly and helpful.
One of the unique features of The Java House - Mormon Trek is that it shares space with Heirloom Salad Company, a health food restaurant. This means that in addition to coffee and pastries, customers can also enjoy chopped salads, hand-crafted never frozen soup, and signature melt and cold custom sandwiches. The food is prepared fresh each morning and is a great option for those looking for a healthy meal.
The Java House - Mormon Trek is open seven days a week from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. The seating area is large, and there is plenty of space to spread out and work or relax. The coffee shop also offers curbside delivery to your car, which is available on The Java House app. Customers can pre-order their coffee on the Java House website or download the Java House app to pre-order their coffee.
Overall, The Java House - Mormon Trek is a great local coffee shop chain that offers a unique health food twist. Java House is a great coffee and meeting place! Great coffee! The thing I have noticed the most is the consistency of the staff and the interaction I have. Always helpful and friendly. I get the same experience every single time! The coffee is consistent as well!

I think the baristas name is Andrés, he is amazing. I have not gotten the confidence to ask him if that's his name and if so, anytime he works could he please make my drinks. He has always delivered consistent, delicious drinks. I have had other batistas and the drinks are not the same. I hope that he stays around for a long time, and if he gets this...I am usually in with my mom and we make it our Saturday treat to kick off the weekend!

Came by here early in the morning right at opening to get some work done before the day started. I decided I would treat myself to a nice coffee and breakfast while I was here.
Parking: This Java House is in a small shopping center, so there was ample parking.
Ambiance: I liked the ambiance of the place. Lots of wood, so it felt natural. There was ample lighting and plenty of seating with outlets for me to get some work done. There are signs that say 1 hour seating, but it was not busy that early and they did not enforce it at the time. I am not sure if they would enforce it if it ever got that busy.
Food and drink: For coffee, I got the Mexican Chocolate Cold Brew with Sweet Cream. For food, I got the Spicy Southwest with chorizo and substituted the English muffin for croissant, which they were more than happy to do. Both came out in a timely manner. The Mexican Chocolate Cold Brew was delicious and refreshing, but it does have a spiced kick to it for those who are not into that. The Spicy Southwest was not too spicy though, so feel free to order it if it piques your interest. It was still warm, had a delicious sauce to it, and I had to consciously tell myself to eat it slowly or I would have scarfed it down otherwise.
Service: Incredibly friendly staff. Made small talk with one of the baristas about the gaggle of geese that were right outside the window.
A hundred percent would come back! I am craving the Spicy Southwest as I write this!

Java house-Heirloom used to be my favorite coffee house in Iowa City. I've been a loyal customer for 7 years-- but I will not come here again. I got disappointed with services they provide as time goes by. I could tell they reduce the portion of the size and asking for more money. They are not used to like this in the past. The image I attached: cup of soup was $4.44. I mean I would be okay if the portion size was big enough to pay that amount of money. It used to be black color cup with bigger portion. Every friends of mine saying that they're recently more focused on making money rather than providing good services. In addition, I used to use an java house application on my phone and sometimes they gave a promotion, but they no longer use application and changed the transaction system ridiculously. I'm not a big fan of java house anymore. I would rather go to Starbucks these days. I was a big fan of java such a long time and it was a big disappointment! Shame on you! Please go back to basic java-heirloom!!

Fantastic place for coffee, hang out with your friends, and yet quiet enough for a quick stop to review your work emails.

Their Tiramisu is amazing. My fiance's favorite dessert in the world is in this small town coffee shop... literally. She's been all over the world and nothing compares to it for her.
Their coffee is solid as well. Its where a lot of U of I students meet up and study.

Great coffee, tremendous food. An Iowa City staple that is a must if you are visiting.

Coffee roasts are very consistent and quite good.
Do not recommend their food on the whole.
Most times when I stop in I get the feeling that the workers are deeply and legitimately annoyed that I came in to buy something.

Best coffee in Iowa City. You can never go wrong with anything there but my favorite is the dark chocolate frappe with an extra shot. If you want something hot their mochas are great.
