Chicory Cafe

I don't understand why we wait so long for take out orders in a restaurant that microwaves everything.

I work as a pilot and like to try the local food whenever possible. Chicory Cafe is a great local spot in downtown South Bend. Great food, coffee and live music. What’s not to like.

Gr8 place. Best atmosphere. I'm definetly going to remember this for a long time. 💜

An excellent first visit. Comfortable place to sit and visit with friends or family while enjoying a latte and breakfast. The egg sandwiches are really good! Staff was very friendly.

I had the Nola latte. My son had hot chocolate. Both were good. Im thinking of going back today for more coffee and then at lunch for some gumbo. I think this is a Women owned business, so thats a good thing. They seem quite friendly, and they have a loyalty card. I look forward to being just as impressed on my future visits

The food was good as usual.
However ... The cashier/order taker was very aloof, not the least bit friendly. Definitely had an attitude going on. Not even a thankyou. No eye contact, just very sour.
We arrived at 2:45 on a Sunday ( Aug 15) .
After we placed out order we were told " you have to have it to go, we closing (sic) .

I stopped at this cafe for lunch after reading the reviews. The shrimp po boy sandwich was just ok, nothing to write home about. It wouldn't bring me back. I had a much better meal at the Fat Bird and would definitely return there. Maybe I just ordered the wrong menu item.

Love this place! My go-to eatery in South Bend! My usual is the crawfish mac and cheese and beignets. Hubby likes the po’ boys and muffulettas. Visited a few days ago snd they were out of crawfish so I had andouille sausage mac and cheese. Wowee was that good! Literally loaded with sausage and easily enough for two meals. I’m writing this while eating another meal off of the leftovers and it is still absolutely delicious! I’ll have to add this to the rotation! Yum!

Live jam session of cajun music just kept building as more players came in. It was a great way to start the day. The beniets were crunchy and shouldvhave beennfluffy but they tasted good.

Wasn't great, wasn't horrible. Shrimp po'boy was decent, but could have used more of a Cajun kick. Cubano was also decent, but the pulled pork didn't really have much of a flavor.
