Longbranch Cafe & Bakery

A total gem in Southern Illinois. This is the only restaurant I can eat at and feel like the food was made in my kitchen. Everything is made from scratch; it's clean, delicious and consistent. I also appreciate their focus on values.

This isn't your biscuits and gravy cafe. It's comfortable with a more specialty menu such as toast with avacado and goat cheese. They have great drink choices from special coffees (such as Bulletproof) and juices such as carrot, beets and apple blended. The service is perfect with just the right amount of attention. They love what their doing. If you enjoy a comfortable atmosphere and great menu options you'll love as we did.

My family is visiting from overseas and the 13 of us descended upon the Longbranch last week. They're big meat eaters and at first were not too enthusiastic about vegetarian fare. (My sis, one son and I are regular diners at Longbranch.) Guess what...the adults and children alike fell in LOVE with the variety of very tasty meals, sides and deserts. It was also the best and friendliest service we've experienced thus far during my family's extended visit to southern IL. We hope to return soon for more!

The owner is a very interesting woman, I love that she displays student's art work. Her espresso is not bitter, her vegan breakfasts are very good! Inside or outside the service is tip worthy!

Always fresh, delicious and consistent. Warm, friendly atmosphere - great for visiting with friends. Great for any meal of the day. I ate here for the better part of a year before I realized it was all vegetarian (and I'm a carnivore!) - the dishes are so yummy you'll never notice. Highly recommend.

Delicious food and great Cafe atmosphere! They have homemade cream soda with various flavors that I recommend trying. They also have outdoor seating that is lovely when it's nice out. I tried my second ever veggie burger there after having decided long ago that I didn't like them and my whole view on them changed when I tried theirs. Simply delicious. Everything is vegetarian from what I saw on the menu. The pricing is reasonable for the amount​ of food you get, too.

The parking in the area is by parking meter only so that should be taken into consideration if you want to park close by. We went during a time when the place wasn't too busy, so we had a nice quiet dinner. It is a spacious cafe so it can seat a lot of patrons however.

All in all would recommend to a friend!

Me and my friends had the best visit last night! The owner, Elaine, was our waitress and made us all feel at home! She told us some very fun stories and gave us the best customer service we have ever had! THE FOOD IS AMAZING!! I had the soup of the day (tomato basil) and the happy artichoke sandwich! Those two items are my favorite and are so good together! Every item on the menu is amazing and home cooked with the best ingredients; all for reasonable prices!! The coffees, smoothies, and juices are to die for as well! You also cannot go wrong with all the amazing fresh bakery items!! PLEASE CHECK THIS PLACE OUT IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN! 100% my favorite restaurant in Carbondale, IL!!!! :)
