Aloha, I love this place! The sushi is fantastic. There are other great non sushi items on the menu. I love their hibiscus tea among other creative drinks. The outdoor lani is beautiful with lights, a garden of plants, pretty flowers, and live music. The service is great. You do need a reservation. There is a beautiful shop inside with lovely jewelry, clothes, and other accessories including children's things. I look forward to going here often. I recommend this place. Enjoy.

Service was excellent. Food was even better. Always a must for the rainbow dragon roll and poke tacos. My kids favorite restaurant. Local music feeled the air. Good place for sushi.

I have only given a bad review once in my life, this will be twice. When we arrived there was a very fishy odor. Entree was served cold and our tiger roll was served without the accompanying sauce, horrible roll for $22. We ordered a bottle of sake when we first arrived that never came, but we were charged for it. Our waitress, who I believe was also the manager, never checked in on us after taking our order, while she waited the table next to us. After she overheard us politely asking the bartender about our missing drink she avoided us at all cost and sent a different hostess. Finally got a refund for the sake (that wasn't served), extra sauce(that wasn't served)....and got a 20% discount on the horrible tiger roll. Staff was very kind.

Hidden in the historic town of Hanapepe. Be sure to walk on the swinging bridge before you grub at Grandma's. Watch out for spiders! Beautiful inside or out take your time and enjoy the quiet and the great food. We enjoyed the fried chicken, Tiger roll, pork ramen, and honey Citris beer.

Very fresh fish. Highly recommend the tempura shrimp

Cozy space, fresh food, lovely backyard garden area. We stopped by Hanapepe town on our way back from Waimea Canyon, and this was the perfect spot for a light but filling lunch. Food was delicious, folks were friendly, and the outdoor seating was a perfect place to rest for a bit.

One of our absolute favorite places to eat on island. The sushi is amazing and my go-to on most nights. If sushi isn’t your thing they have lots of other delicious options. Personally I also recommend their ramen and the Grandma’s Chicken Karaage is very good.

Seating: Japanese Grandma’s recently built a beautiful outdoor space to accommodate social distancing. Atmosphere is pleasant and a perfect spot for a date night (will have to update later with pics!). They also have a few tables inside for hot days. Make sure to call ahead for reservation!

Location: Japanese Grandma’s is located in historic Hanapepe. There are lots of shops to browse and is a unique area of Kauai to visit.

Special Events: Japanese Grandma’s Cafe often hosts special events. Some of the attached pictures are from a special Omakase dinner. Follow them on Instagram to stay in the know!

Top quality seafood and service at this tiny but lovely venue. Their poke bowl was among the best we had in Kauai. For those looking for hand selected Japanese gifts, they have a small shop as well. We so enjoyed our lunch here!

Wow. What a great place. The food is some of the best we’ve had on Kauai. Clean, fresh, delicious. Lovely little space as well. Friendly people. We had two Bento Bowls - one egg (perfectly souls vide) and one veggie tempura with brown rice and avocado. Some of the best tempura I’ve had. Garlic ginger tamari sauce was great. We went for lunch but sushi and sake selection also looked really good. We will be back.

Happened upon this place by accident and it turned out to be the best Ramen I’ve had outside of Japan. They use handmade Ramen noodles and slow cook the pork just right. Pictured is a bowl of their Tonkotsu Pork Ramen and a Mahi Mahi roll which was also really good. Grandma knows what she is doing
