I really wanted Catalina to be my new go-to coffee/sandwich shop after Atomic shut down, to fill that favorite-local-spot void, but I've been a few times now and they don't impress me. The staff always gets some part of my order wrong, and you can tell it's because they just don't care. I think the espresso and breakfast sandwiches are delicious, but the service seems very poor and I've never felt particularly welcome there :/
Bicycle House
Several of us from Bicycle House go to Catalina on Gaines nearly every morning.... The space is small and so, when it is busy, which it often is, the staff has to hustle, and they do, with good result - the coffee is not only good, but consistently so, the food is also good and the product consistent as well.
Somehow, in spite of this shop being as busy as some big-city Starbucks - the staff maintains a personable and intimate rapport. This is due in part to the staff themselves, and as well the owners who designed the space and hire the staff. Hats off to Catalina....
Quick Note: to the folks who gave this place bad reviews!!!! Please give them another chance, you will not be disappointed
The Wonderer
I really enjoyed the coffee! The staff is very friendly.

I went for breakfast, it was overall pretty alright food. The menu items were not super out there, but what I got tasted alright. However, the quiche was just a little dry. Other than that, the customer service was very nice and food was relatively quick.

This is probably my favorite coffee shop in town, the coffee is always so good. However, I do have three small complaints. One, I wish it was open later than 7pm, it's way too early to close up shop in my opinion. They'd get so much more business from the college crowd if they'd stay open later. Two, they have a bunch of junk by the front door which constricts some seating and seating is already scarce. It's annoying to see all of that stuff by the door just stuffed into a corner every time I'm in there. Third, I wish they had more electrical outlets or at least extension cords or something... This place is amazing, it would be 5 stars if they'd fix those three things! Nonetheless, I'm still a big fan of Catalina Cafe. Thanks.

Great GF wrap with turkey, brie, bacon, and raspberry dressing! I highly recommend that dish. The homemade potato chips were light and crispy. The food was so good that I returned for lunch a second time during my four-day stay. The GF wrap with turkey and fig was also quite tasty. The service was friendly and fast, and there is both indoor and outdoor seating.

It has a nice, relaxing vibe as you enter. Hipster-esque but the prices aren't too high. They have seasonal teas as well as many different brews of coffee.
I decided on the Chai Latte and a Morrocan Mint Tea. The Chai Latte is phenomenal iced with whole milk. The tea has just a tad bit of honey so I mostly taste the tea but that is not a bad thing.
Great products at a good price and a good venue.

So far it's my favorite coffee shop around. The food/coffee is great, the service is so friendly (which is very important), and the atmosphere is pretty cool. I've been a couple of other places but I always come back here

Great place but this morning visit (my 5th visit) there was the worst experience. By far. I honestly came there for their sausage potato quiche, which is great for the most part. But i also decided to order a cafe con leche coffee, iced. I had to wait a total of 25 minutes before walking out the door with my order. The quiche came to me immediately, but after i noticed that patrons behind me were getting their coffee and leaving i had to inquire about my order, which is when i must have feel through the cracks. He made my coffee, but it was a hot coffee, i had to re-iterate that i ordered it iced (which was a little extra cost). He finally made it, and that was good, outside of the 25 minute wait. Next the quiche, the last two times i had it, was the best breakfast i have ever had from any coffee shoppe. This one was literally burnt. I had one of the edge slices so 3/4 of the food was hard so i had to tear it apart just to eat the center of it. I should have inspected it before i came back to my office to get this corrected but i assumed that it was gonna be of the same quality of my last two visits. As i am typing this i am looking at the scraps of my breakfast and i honestly dont want to take pic of this and let this pic represent the usual experience of the cafe. But after i type this, i am going to call, because the amount of money i paid and time was wasted, at least my order should have been right.
Would have been 5 stars but this visit ruined it for me.

My new favorite coldbrew in town. The owner is also a really nice guy who gave me a really j retesting rundown of how they make it.
