I love Google...sometimes. Why? Because, sometimes, when I ask the Assistant for a "good restaurant near me", she gets it right.
The Local has a coffee shop feel, but it's so much more. It's more than "FOOD, BOOZE, CAFFEINE" as well, even though that's what the sign says above the door. We visited on a Saturday evening, and although most of the tables were full, it wasn't loud or cramped at all. It's totally casual, but I saw a mix of attire from guest to guest, which was nice...no matter how you come in, you'll fit in.
The menu is great - very diverse, very accommodating to a everyone. Meat-eaters, vegans, vegetarians, diabetics...there are several options for all of us. The best part of the menu - your not overwhelmed with choices.
My wife ordered Steak Frites with some delicious roasted sweet potato fries, and I ordered a Quinoa Bowl with salmon. She liked her steak, and I LOVED my bowl. Definitely check it out - it was a great mix of flavors and textures, and everything was really fresh.
It was raining when we finished up, so we decided to hang around a bit longer and share a French Press. It was what the server described as their "regular blend"; I don't know what that means, but it was really tasty.
The service was really good, the pricing was a little high (but not a deal-breaker), and the place was very clean and well-kept.
Next time you're looking for a bite in the San Marco area, don't ask Google to find you a good restaurant. Instead, ask for directions to The Local.

Visited twice in a 24 hour period. Went for drinks at night and then coffee the next morning. They have a nice espresso machine and the Americano I got was decent. The back patio they have is welcoming. There was hardly anyone there when they opened in the morning so it was quiet. I sat on some couches in the corner but didn’t get any attention from the servers so I relocated to the bar. I got the avocado toast with goat cheese and it was delicious. Would go back when in the area.

The service is good depending on the person. The atmosphere is especially good on the outdoor patio. I dont like the indoor atmosphere as much because they have tvs running most of the time. The food is nothing special but they have good appetizers at dinner and good fries.

Nice local hang out. Outdoor seating. I got the Grilled Salmon Sandwich and substituted charred broccolini. The Sandwich was so delicious. This would be a great place for lunch. Nice atmosphere, kind of a bit like a coffee shop.

This place was amazing! Not what I expected when I walked up too. Great out of town restaurant for sure. Highly recommend.

I was really hoping to leave 5 stars but our take out experience was not worth that. We ordered the Arugala Fig Crostini starter, Pasta Miramar, The Hendrick burger, and a bowl of soup (which turned out to be tomato soup). We ordered online and picked up after about 30 mins. The order was ready when I arrived, which was great. The decor and ambiance was great: modern yet calm and mellow. It was not packed but slightly busy and everyone looked to be enjoying themselves. The staff were all friendly. I grabbed my order, the hostess got the door for me since I had my sleeping toddler in my arms, got back in the car and headed home to enjoy our first try of this place.
The Hendrick burger was AMAZING! Cooked a perfect medium as I requested. Well balanced ingredients and tons of flavor! I definitely recommend it!
The Arugala Fig Crostini was not very enjoyable. It seemed they just laid the crostini in the bottom of the take out box and made a salad on top. There was plenty of cheese, dried cranberries, and was heaping with arugala, but not much crispy prosciutto sprinkled on top, and only a slight drizzle of balsamic glaze. The fig aoioli came on the side and was a good amount. It was just difficult to eat and not well balanced.
The Pasta Miramar was ok but had a sauce that was thin and lacking in flavor. There was not much sausage in the dish.
The tomato soup was not particularly great, but it wasn't bad. When we ordered online it just mentioned seasonal and chef inspired so we were taking a chance on that. I could have called to check but I'm not very picky so figured whatever we got would be fine. It was flavorful, but very acidic. A tomato bisque would have likely hit the spot.
We will likely give this location another shot but dine in next time. I will update my review if I have a better experience.

Coming from Dt John’s, Rivertown area…
we only wish we had a restaurant like this where we live. The Local.. would be
a great fit for this area! We have visited this restaurant three times. I never been disappointed.. The wait staff and
all helpers are very helpful, kind, ‘& offer
there help on all levels.. we’ve been there on Wednesday night when they have live music, which makes it even more special. We enjoy the food choices,
and the wine is great.. plus sharing
desert is always worth it when it’s homemade !! The only thing I don’t like are the chairs I don’t find them to be super comfortable, but I can overlook that because everything else is great.!!
We will return , and at some point we will try the local in Neptune Beach area,
as well. Keep up the great work and smiles .. and you’ll keep us coming back !!

Very nice place. Comfortable, neighborhood atmosphere. Good for a family breakfast/brunch or for that individual who just likes to take themselves out for a quiet breakfast (me). Comfortable inside but plenty of shady seating outside on the deck. Staff was friendly and helpful and quick to take care of any needs I had. I ordered the Steak Frites and Eggs. I love eggs but I start at new places with scrambled to see how they do. The eggs and rare steak were perfectly cooked and the fries were delicious and crispy on the outside. Good coffee. Also you order at the counter on your way in and pay (with tip) before you sit, so when your meal is over, you can enjoy your coffee and then leave. I will be back and I will bring friends.
