Delicious food, great service, nice value, and a cool ambiance. As we drove by late afternoon, there were several cases parked out front. We stopped partly because of that. We had the blackened fish basket and the grilled shrimp basket. The blackened fish was awesome and the grilled shrimp was too. The fries were very tasty and crispy. For desert we had the fried key lime pie. Key lime pie filling rolled up in a flour tortilla and fried. It is topped with chocolate topping and whipped cream. It was plenty for two people and exceeded expectations. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. She gave great advice on the items on the menu. The restaurant is a microcosm of the small community and it has loads of charm. This was a "glad we went there" place!

Was out looking at the glades and stopped for a quick dinner, place is a very authentic small town diner, not overly touristy, with really good fish tacos. Others had gator bites and frog legs for appetizers, and then ordered crab cakes or pasta, their mistake, it was fine and the salad and hush puppy very good, but they should have had something with fish because the tacos were cut from fresh caught instead of frozen breaded fish sticks. See pictures- sorry about the half eaten taco, they were so good I forgot to take a picture

Can't say a bad word about this place!
Very pleasant and welcoming staff.
Visited for both dinner and breakfast, which were faultless.
Great value, good quality food, available all day.

Island Cafe is in Everglade City on Colliers Ave. It was our second last stop on the Tamiami trail, west bound to Naples. Great little restaurant with seafood dishes and fully decorated with the Everglades theme. The Keylime pie is recommended. Subjectively, it's tangy.

Seafood combo, onion rings and gator nuggets were delicious. Food came out fast and hot.

I was in Everglades City after an early bike ride looking for breakfast and discovered the Island Cafe. Breakfast offerings are a bit basic and service on the gruff side, but you can’t beat the value for the money. Got everything I needed and would be happy to return.

Came here for the gator tacos and gator burger 😋. Great service and great food. Ice cream and gift shop were closed (looks like for good).

Small town vibes with tasty food.
I had the gator burger (not sure if it actually has Gator in it) and then a cheese burger the next day.
Both were tasty and the staff were friendly.

Food was really good (3 stars, only because it is not like a 4 or 5 star restaurant, more like a small diner style restaurant), cool to try the gator nuggets (actually do kind of taste like chicken!!)! Service was very friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was clean and pretty neat to see. Found it by accident while planning a trip from Miami to Orlando through the everglades, great little find! Recommended to make the little trip off the path.
