Just Say Hello
I am editing a previous review.
The food is still outstanding, I would give it a 5 star but....
My mistake was dining in. It was so hot I was literally sweating while trying to enjoy my meal. After a few bites we asked for to go boxes and left as quickly as possible.
While waiting for our meal, I asked if the AC was broken the hostess became angry, and stated "it is always like this, it is cooler in the bar". Then she proceeded to walk past us multiple times holding a pitcher of water and tea, never once looking at us or offering to refill our empty glasses. The server, JoAnna, was the only one working, she was trying to manage ALL of the tables while the hostess sauntered around and did as little as she wanted to do. The guy bussing the tables did just that and nothing more. The management of this place does not reflect the expertise of the chef and that is a shame. This could be an outstanding restuarant with adequate cooling and appropriate staffing with folks willing to work. Please, someone get JoAnna some help. And please tell me she is not forced to share her much deserved tips with those lazy side kicks.
Previous post: again, it reflects the poor service in the restaurant.
Outstanding! Ordered to go, the food was prepared beautifully, The pecan crusted grouper was wonderful, the mashed potatoes could be the best I've ever had. Highly recommend the rum flan as well. Great staff in the bar. I would love to give them 5 stars but I tried to order the next night and even though they close at 10 PM and I was told the kitchen was closed at 9:30 on a Friday night, I will reluctantly give a 4 star.

Three of us ate there and we all got something different and it was all very good. The seafood bisque, the stuffed pork tenderloin, the pecan crusted grouper, the salads...I highly recommend Tamara's if you want a great meal. The dessert menu looked good but we were all too full from cleaning our plates at dinner. We will be back!

I’d like to start off with saying The Grouper cheeks with chorizo mac-n-cheese and tabasco was great, interesting flavors I would have never thought worked together blended into something great. Now with that being said here is why I’m giving 2 stars, my mother ordered the fried shrimp which on the menu was described as “lightly battered” and wow this batter was closer to wet cement, they definitely could have used a second or more in the frier but they were not “light” by any stretch of the word. The first plate was undercooked and we showed the waitress and she agreed and sent them back, the second batch was okay but still obviously undercooked and dripping with batter, still was charged for the shrimp and was definitely not worth $16. In addition if you are going to eat here avoid the street tacos, but the Cuban sandwich is great.

This was one of the few restaurants with dining in available due to COVID 19 so we decided to give it a try. Service was good. We had the fish and chips and street tacos. The french fries were hot and crunchy. The fried fish was so so with too much breading but they did use flounder. I expected the chipotle chicken tacos to be spicy but they weren’t at all. I couldn’t taste any chipotle - it was just lightly colored pieces of diced chicken. It came with nice crunchy cabbage, and the homemade tortillas chips were really tasty. Salsa was very bland – tasted like canned tomatoes – no spice at all. The Oyster brewery IPA and Brown were delicious. Too bad they weren’t allowed to do tastings at the brewery which is just around the corner. Overall, it was okay but nothing special.

Dropped in for dinner. Not busy when we arrived yet it took over 30 minutes for food to arrive. I ordered the shrimp and scallops linguine and was very disappointed with the lack of seafood. 4 shrimp and and perhaps a dozen small bay scallops. No real sauce if any kind. Just some cherry tomatoes and a dusting of parm. $28 later...not to be repeated.

Service was subpar and it smelled like it wasn’t very clean. We even noticed several people walk and and comment on the smell since we were sitting by the door. We decided to just have a drink and not order food because of this. I’m only giving them an extra star since I didn’t actually try the food and you can’t really mess up wine...even though our server did bring me the wrong wine at first. But I’ll give her a break since she wrote our order on the palm of her hand.

My daughter had been planning her wedding in Apalachicola for a year.
Three weeks before the Big Day, the original venue cancelled all plans.
With very short notice, Danny and his wife from Tamara's Cafe agreed to cater the rehearsal dinner and reception, and did a phenomenal job.
I will have to say this was by far the best food I have had at such an event, and highly recommend them to anyone planning a special occasion in the Apalachicola area.

Ate here for lunch today after my mom raved about her last experience at this "cute little soup and sandwich cafe". We were both less than thrilled with our experience today. Our waitress was kind when she actually came to our table, but service was slow. I ordered the chicken and cheese quesadilla, which was good, but my mom ordered the buffalo chicken sliders and they were served cold (like refrigerator cold), which was really odd to us. The buffalo sauce wasn't spicy at all, and was sweet. We had to ask for silverware after our food came, and our waitress told us 2 times that she would refill my drink, and never did so until my mom flagged her down, and asked for my refill and our check all in one go. It was pretty hot in there too. I probably won't give it another try.

My food was good. My wife ordered her steak med. rare. It was closer to raw.
Table of 6 one order was not placed. "It will be out in 2 mins. Saw waitress putting order in.

I went into this little cafe expecting great intensive service and good food. I ordered a $14 lunch special and received what I consider to be a measly basket of fish and fries worth about $7.50. I only got one piece of fish for that money, and it wasn't even considerably good. I was extremely disappointed. Would not recommend.
