Friendly staff and excellent coffee and pastries, including the only Kyoto style cold brew in dc :)

Fantastic coffee and snacks! Everything is made fresh and in-store from the jam to the biscuits to the coffee. Try out a miso-based latte or a coffee soda if you’re feeling adventurous!

A nice spot to work for a little while too, very quiet, relaxed and cute atmosphere. Just be warned the wifi will cut off promptly at two hours.

I previously gave this place a lower rating for what was a once-off issue with a coffee I had ordered. Since going back, I’ve had more positive experiences. Overall, this is a great place. There are some things I would like to see changed though.
(1) The limit on WiFi (I think it’s two hours). In the age of remote work, they’re missing out on work from home folks. I’ve worked from Sweet Science, only for my WiFi to elapse, even though I would have happily ordered more coffee to stay put.
(2) The seating isn’t the warmest. With a couch or two, some other seating options, or even just more seating, the atmosphere could be a lot warmer.
That shouldn’t stop anyone though—the coffee is great!

Been here a few times now and have had a great experience each time. The breakfast sammy is super good, and the staff working today were super nice-- makes me want to keep coming back.

Cortado very tasty. The vegetable quiche could have been warmed a bit longer because the inside was still very cold, but I saw potential. Scones were awesome. This place in NoMa is worth going back repeatedly.

Cashier/barista was abrupt and rude for no reason and kept cutting us off. gave me the wrong drink and lied about it. Don’t waste your time or money.

I travel the world seeking out truly exceptional cafes, and I use reviews to help me find them. Some of the reviews and photos for this place looked promising: coffee from famous international roasters, a wide range of brew methods tailored to specific coffees, and the ability to buy coffee beans in small weights (great for comparative tasting!). Unfortunately, as of November 2021 none of these were available - only a couple of coffee bean options for espresso and drip, no special brew methods, and no international roasters on offer. At least they still had coffee from some of the best US roasters (e.g. Black & White) and the coffee comes in nice looking mugs. This cafe is still a lot better than the average cafe in Washington DC, but nothing truly exceptional for specialty coffee.

I thanked your bartender for preparing me a very tasty cappuccino a week ago. I also thanked your staff for serving it quickly. I like the ambiance of your coffee shop because it was so classy and elegant. I couldn't ask for more from you, guys! You deserve to be on top! You're highly recommended!
