My favorite coffee shop in D.C.! I used to live on 11th St. NE and walk here every weekend to sip coffee at the counter. The owners are a joy: welcoming, lively, and go above and beyond to make you feel at home in their cozy shop. If you like your coffee strong, full-bodied, and dark, Sidamo is a must visit.

A wonderful and warm neighborhood coffee shop serving delicious single origin coffee from Ethiopia.
Beyond Sidamo's coffee selection is a nice menu of baked pastries, breakfast sandwiches, salads, smoothies, and even a short list of wines.
The atmosphere is it's best trait. The owner is always there and his staff is extremely friendly and customer focused.

Amazing coffee, friendly people, and a super cute place to sip on coffee while listening to jazz.

Sidamo is the best coffee shop ever. I used to live nearby and always make time for a visit when I'm back in DC. I love Ethiopian coffee, and Sidamo roasts on-site so it doesn't get any fresher than this.
They make amazing espresso drinks. No one else does foam like Sidamo. Even a soy cappuccino (which is usually a little limp elsewhere) comes out frothy and delightful. Bulk coffee is a bargain and they also have very good tea and sandwiches.
The large front window, high tin ceiling and rotating artwork contribute to a bright, cheery atmosphere. Space is tight but the quiet back patio is lovely when the weather is nice. They will never pressure you to hurry or leave.
Service is generally very friendly, especially if the owner is there (the staff sometimes refuse to serve drinks in real porcelain unless he is around, which is annoying). If you are there at the right time you may get to chat with Kenfe while he roasts coffee, or enjoy a traditional coffee-roasting ceremony (Sunday afternoons at 2pm). I credit them with starting the H St Renaissance.

I don’t know where to start. This place may serve the best coffee in all of Washington. It’s a gem. I moved to another part of the city, rather far, but make a point to hop on the red line to union station and walk over every weekend. Come on Sunday for the Ethiopian coffee ceremony.

I have been here multiple times and had amazing coffee, lattes and vibes. There is a secret garden in the back you can use in the spring and summer and thr owner roasts his own beans every few days. You know you're getting the best here. He can be a little bit gruff, but no more so than a grandfather. If you ask him, he can tell you all about your coffee

Just went in for coffee. Service was very pleasant. Atmosphere very calm.

The best coffee this coffee drinker has tasted in quite a while. And the bagel breakfasts were quick, hot, flavorful and filling. A very pleasant environment. I just hope they can expand because the place can be crowded. If you can eat outside, the experience is even better.

Their tea is lose leaf and better than most tea of really expensive places. Grilled cheese with pesto was also great.

I LOVE this place, the authentic coffee ceremony service is so good. Absolutely beautiful
