The service is friendly and the paninis are delicious. More importantly, regarding the coffee-- it's been consistently good. My first coffee here was just plain awful, but since then it's been spot on. So, I'm inclined to believe that first one was an outlier.. Definitely worth stopping by this place!

Nice place to take break, well mannered workers, I love it

Good lattes and service is pretty warm. Seating is very cozy and comfortable. A bit too crowded for my taste. I was there during lunch time. Bit far from Foggy Bottom metro and parking is limited even if free.

Nice, quiet, traditional coffee shop similar to "Central Perk" on the TV show "Friends". Seating options include couches, chairs, tables, etc. Only downside is that it was so busy that there was nowhere to sit inside. We went outside, but we had to wipe down the chairs/tables ourselves because they hadn't done so after the rain.

This place is really creative. They have a lot of options, they know what flavors go together well, and their food is just very good!! They even have pour over coffee (something that is highly uncommon, but very good). On top of all of this, the prices are very affordable. Especially for DC.

The underpinnings of their business attracted my attention - crop to cup, sustainable practices, fair trade. We walked in and found a small but busy cafe, with friendly, though ever-so-slightly frazzled baristas.

We had a group of 7, so we knew to practice patience. We looked over the menus, ordered our drinks and food, and waited grabbed a table. The fact that we were able to grab a table in the morning on a weekend was nice.

The coffee came out first, and that was the first disappointment. I always order a cappuccino with nothing added. The drink itself tasted great. But it was lukewarm. For those of us who are die hard coffee drinkers, we like it HOT. This was about the temperature of most coffees after about 30 minutes if it's lasted that long. I asked the others as they started getting their drinks, and they all said theirs was the same. I wanted to send mine back, but the line of people kept continuing to get longer, and the energy behind the bar was getting frenetic.

The food came out in multiple batches, which we expected. All was tasty. I had the oatmeal while others got the bacon, egg & cheese or sausage sandwiches. Everybody enjoyed what they got. However, we had to remind them several times about food we'd ordered as well as one drink. They kept thinking our order was complete when it wasn't. There seemed to be no clear method of tracking what was completed and what still needed to be done, and most of us were completely finished by the time our last person got his food.

Notably cheerful baristas, if occasionally slow due to smaller staff, but the quality & variety of the coffee, tea, and other drink choices is superb (plus unique seasonal drink options, like "Spring Berry Latte," etc), although I'll admit the pastry selection is lacking by comparison.
Well-functioning Wi-Fi, plentiful, cozy, seating choices, plus a larger table in the back for those long work sessions or intimate business meetings. Lovely spot to chill and relax for a few minutes, or a few hours

It's a coffee shop. Prices are ok. Comfy furniture and doesn't feel overly cramped as some coffee shops do.

For how much they seem to want to play up the whole African aesthetic and influence, I don't really feel like it works--a few accent pieces here and there and some claims of selling Rwandan coffee don't really sell the whole deal. Also why the hell is the name "Bourbon" Coffee if they're going for African influence?

The staff here is very friendly and they offer a good amount of food items - including vegan options! While the space is great (along with the coffee) it's often difficult to find seating and they close early so make sure to check their hours before you go!

I had higher expectations for this place solely based on the cool name but after trying it out I was disappointed. When i ordered an amaretto latte it was very watery and had a chemical taste to it, not good. I also ordered a ham egg and cheese that was disappointing as well, the egg was not fresh it was a patty-like "thing" and the ham was COLD in the middle. I regretted not going to Bruggers next door and just getting a bagel.
