I want to like Bourbon Coffee but their cups constantly leak all over the place (after every sip you end up with drips of coffee on your hands). When they first opened in Tenleytown I used to frequent, but the lids never seemed sized right for the cups. I pointed this out, but they never changed them. The cups were flimsy and of lower quality than other coffee chains (lids pop off if you put a little too much pressure when you grab it). I thought it was local to the Tenleytown shop. Today I had the same issue downtown on L ST. I'm rooting for this coffee shop as I love Rwandan coffee so hopefully someone sees this and switches up their cup/lid order. Probably some finance dude looking to cut costs. You can't be cheap about what you put your product in. After 3 years how does this go unnoticed?

Convenient location for nearby offices, medical centers, etc. Friendly staff that remembers your order to the T. And most importantly, very good light roast coffee.

Very cozy spot! I go here often. The coffee is very well brewed and tasty, there's a good selection of teas, the service is prompt, and it is very clean. The price is a bit high for fresh beans, but they at least give you a free cup of coffee when you buy a pound. It would be a nice spot to host a live unplgged music show, in my opinion.

In a neighborhood full of large corporation-owned chains, Bourbon sticks out as the best coffee shop in the West End-K Street neighborhood. Their coffee is in fact amazing, and their drinks are properly made. There's always good music and good vibe and good service. Be warned however, that since they actually make their drinks properly, it takes longer than your standard Starbucks latte, so don't huff and puff about having to wait an extra four minutes.

Genuinely, amazing coffee.

Was my first time here and I am so glad I popped in for a much-anticipated coffee. The barista was very knowledgeable, helping me pick out the perfect beans and drinks. Treated all customers with dignity and respect. Good vibes here, please support them through COVID if you can!

This is a great place that is open early for coffee and tea. I had a very solid cold brew coffee here, and my wife got a tea. I also treated myself to a banana bread (as you can see), which was also good. I imagine it would have been even better if I asked them to toast it. This place is a must stop if you're in the area and need a little energy boost. Great people watching spot too!

First time. I'll likely return whenever I visit DC.
Great selection of African coffees. Ordered a egg, bacon, cheese panini and it was delicious. Thick peppered bacon! Cashier was attentive but not exactly warm and fuzzy.
Ambiance was very relaxing. Very professional looking clientele and some college students.
Good eye candy, too!

Good tasting and well priced coffee. Service was slow but it seemed like they were quite understaffed and I ordered something which takes a while.

Egg a cheese tasted good.

I work around the block and trust only this place for my coffee. The iced coffee is delicious as well as their hot coffees. Great variety of breakfast foods in the AM, including pastries and hot sandwiches. Also have a huge lunch and smoothie menu. Decent prices and I love that much of their work goes towards supporting work in Rwanda (they have a coffee shop there too!).

Great seating options - there are couches and armchairs in addition to bar stools and regular tables, and it's rarely so crowded you can't find a place to sit. The coffee is fantastic and the staff is always friendly. This is one of my favorite places to just bring a book and chill out. My only gripe is the hours - it closes at 5 on weekdays and is closed on sundays and federal holidays - but I get why they do that.
