Really happy to see more Blue Bottles opening in DC. This location is equally as fantastic as the ones they have in California, their coffees and food options are very good (although slightly on the pricy side). Overall a good experience and I’ll be returning for sure.
I haven't had a sip of coffee that made me stop in my tracks.... creamy foam, smooth, aromatic flavours swirling around - deliciously buttery milk flavour, beans roasted to absolute perfection, bringing out all the hints of chocolate, graham crackers, roasted almonds.... I can't stop thinking about this cappuccino. Seriously a solid 5 stars for everything - coffee, service, ambience & meticulous preparation of each cup of coffee.
The coffee is, of course, really good. The decor is modern and sparse in a restrained Apple Store kind of way. The staff and manager are friendly and there are a fair number of interesting seats. I didn't spot power outlets and I'm pretty sure there isn't wi-fi, so come here to worship the almighty bean, but it won't be a good place to work from. I would have liked it if they could compromise their viciously smooth aesthetic a little and had say, a few labels here and there so I would have known where to deposit used dishes, trash, etc, but once you've been here a few times you will know and it won't matter.
Really good coffee, staff was nice enough, too snoody of an atmosphere for my taste. Bunch of lawyer and CEO types having meetings in there, suits galore. Had a lady take my drink even though the barista called my name. So he reiterated the next drink was mine. Then another lady tried to walk up to take it and he told her that hers was next. Guess waiting 3 minutes is just too long for important people. Barista handled it graciously while pumping out nice latte art on drink after drink.
--Nice atmosphere; open space with lots of seats along the windows. --The female cashier was NOT friendly when I asked to have my scone warmed up. --A bit pricey, but yogurt and scone were delish.
This location of Blue Bottle Coffee is the latest shop in their DC empire. It's located in downtown DC on the site of the old Washington Post building. It's in the back of the new Mid-City Center complex. It's one of the largest Blue Bottle Coffees in the city.
There's plenty of seating from small tables to large round tables to window seating. The staff handcraft each coffee and sell tasty pastries and small munchie items. The coffee is good, but it's expensive.
The staff are friendly at this location (unlike at the Union Market location).
I stopped in a couple times around lunch time when I was working in the area. The baristas were very welcoming and friendly. I enjoyed coming here for a break.
