Probably the most popular coffee house chain (two or more locations) in SLO. Always packed with people, maybe I'm missing something; the coffee is okay, a bit strong/acidic for my taste. Great pastry section and while i get good service I can't really say it's friendly.

The gentleman making the latte's misread the ticket and made it for there as opposed to go, no big deal. However, instead of pouring it to go OR remaking it; he decided it was smart to add additional frothed milk on top to try to pass it off as made appropriately as opposed to staying true to flavor and correct ingredient measurements. The lady next to him asked if he re-made it and he laughed and said no, so it was acknowledged it should have been re-made. Considering its a relatively slow Tuesday at 10am, I would be very wary to come here on a weekend or early morning rush.
The pourover Ethiopia coffee lacks any hint of the intended notes, not sure if they're using old coffee or what but it's quite flavorless for this bean. The lady taking the order was friendly so added a star for her, otherwise it's a single star for quality.

Beautiful, large, open coffee shop with mostly Cal Poly students. Positive vibe. Lots of seating. Their coffee quality is middle of the road and their eats are mostly baked goods. Wish they would also provide healthier foods.

Nice and airy coffee shop with delicious coffees, friendly service and outdoor seating. I loved their affagato.

Scout is great for its atmosphere and supremely friendly staff. The new location is really convenient because downtown parking is not an issue. It's a bigger space so there's generally room to sit if you are wanting to hang out for a bit.
I've recently fallen in love with the scout cookie and highly recommend it.

Do not come here to study!
After paying for my coffee I asked for the wifi password and was surprised to find out that they're not giving it out anymore.
Though I understand why they may not want people using their tables for long periods of time, the simple fact is that people go to coffee shops to do work or study, particularly in a college town. I know that is the only reason why I paid for their extremely mediocre coffee. Any coffee shop in SLO will have lots of people staying there to do work and I will be taking my business there.

I went into scouts today to order a couple cups of coffee and I was wearing a mask. My mask just so happened to be slightly below my nose. I was harrassed by an employee and was told to pull my mask up. They didn't say "please pull up your mask, it's our policy". They basically told me that if I didn't pull my mask up the extra 1/4 of an inch that they would make me stand outside while they take my order. I will never order from this coffee shop again. Good coffee. Horrible service.

At this point, Scout is a solid fixture in San Luis. This particular location is popular with the Cal Poly students and can be busy on the weekends. The drinks and pastries are the same high quality as the downtown location. They also have a nice selection of gifts and home goods reflecting the easy breezy hipster style this coffee shop has branded itself with.
