Have been coming to this restaurant for over 26 yrs. Has always been consistent and delicious. Definitely one of my favorite spots in SLO. I will be coming back here when we are in the area.

The staff was very friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the food was great! Loved it

5 stars on the vegan option. The vegan / vegetarian dishes are quite well. However, the chicken in there tend to be a bit on the dry side. I like how they have a balance menu for meat / vegan / vegetarian options.

It's a quiet place. Could be cozy. I wish they'd wash their cushions. The staff wasn't very welcoming. Our server Candace was ok . She didn't introduce herself to us, she walked off while my husband was speaking to her, I do appreciate her going to check if we could have dinner before dinner time. To me the food was mediocre and frankly I would not recommend the place. It's just, though the food reads/sounds amazing on the menu, it was lacking in flavor and character for me. Aside from the Spanish dish I had (which after reheating and eating with saltines was amazing), the nachos were dry, the steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare), not dry, but a very bland flavor. So in the event you want to slather sauce on your meat (not A1 because they don't carry it) this is the steak for you. With that said, bon appetit. I hope you have a better experience than I did.

Huevos rancheros was great! The upsetting part were the breakfast potatoes. Cold and stale. The server asked if we wanted a new plate and suggested "extra crispy". That sounded great! Until my wife and I realised they just threw old stale potatoes in a fryer to try and bring them back to life. Overcooked and burnt.
I'd give them another shot to do it right next time.

We're in love.
On a drive from LA to SF, we decided to grab lunch in SLO. After walking around, we saw a beautiful brick-front cafe. The menu looked delicious, so we tried it.
We wanted to sit outside and it was a bit cool. The staff kindly offered to lower the umbrella so we could get some sun. They were exceptionally helpful. And then the food came. It was absolutely delicious. The Huevos Rancheros and the omelettes are tastefully made and also very filling. Nothing was left to be desired. The coffee (very important) was awesome also.
I was so excited about our stroke of luck to have walked into this cafe...that I left my sunglasses behind. Whoops. After contacting the restaurant, the manager Jill immediately offered to ship them back to me (even though I live in New York City). I even got a fun note.
I don't often leave reviews, but this was an exceptional experience, from walking in all the way to getting my sunglasses in NYC.
Thank you Jill and the Big Sky Cafe team!

We stopped into Big Sky Cafe on the way to LA. We had a lovely breakfast. We were welcomed into the restaurant. The food was excellent, as was the service. Our kids loved the pancakes! About 2 hours from SLO, our son realized he’d left his bunny stuffy behind. We called the restaurant hoping they’d found it. They had and offered to mail it back to us at no charge. It arrived with the sweetest note. If we find ourselves back in SLO, we will definitely be going back to Big Sky Cafe. Highly recommend!

Very nice place with good customer service. My friend loved her yummy chinese salad, and she got a lot for a half salad! But my full bowl of Posole soup was hardly worth $14.00 . Pretty tasty, but just half can of garbanzo's..not much to it for the price. Like I say, usually am very happy with the place...

Big Sky Cafe has a Big Heart for Dogs 🐕. Great food, coffee and service. If you find yourself in beautiful San Luis Obispo California Don't miss out on eating at Big Sky Cafe, they really make you feel at home. My Burger and fries were great and that home grown tomato really added to the great taste 😋

Service was good and food was not bad. Would've wanted more corned beef in my corned beef hash.
