From the business
"Great Bear has been roasting small batch, artisanal coffee onsite in our Los Gatos café since 1991. Founded by the Van Epps family and purchased by longtime community member Abdy Mirzadegan in November 2022, Great Bear is focused on its coffee’s freshness and quality. The very first roaster at the Great Bear was trained by Alfred Peet — yes, that Mr. Peet — and over the years we’ve developed our own unrivaled roasts. Our beans grind up to produce a beautifully full, luscious cup of coffee. We start with some of the best green beans and offer a limited selection of roasts, blends, and varietals to ensure the freshness that makes Indoor and Outdoor seating with WiFi. Vegan, Vegetarian, and Wheat Free options. Friendly and welcoming staff."

Low key place with great coffee. Great place to relax and grab a quick bite of some pretty good eats. Cold brew mocha java is the bomb. Its good on its own even if you dont normally enjoy your coffee black. Low on tannins (not bitter) and actually tastes like chocolate as the name implies. Mmmmmmm....

This local cafe has a Santa Cruz type feel. Relaxed and funky. Despite the workspace and myriad tables, it feels a bit crowded and dark. The wifi is fast, the coffee strong, and the service, palatable.

This is the best coffee in Los Gatos area. They have a great selection of pastries and they make the best coffee in town. I highly recommended getting their whipped cream on whatever drink you order.

Good coffee ☕️! They also have a great assortment of pastries with some vegan options as well as gluten free. Seems like a local favorite and I'd definitely go back!

Cozy and a little funky. Decent coffee but not standout. Reliably has space to meet people. Downtown Los Gatos always nice to walk through. Parking in rear.

Great coffee, fun baristas, earthy hot chai, & apparently the CCC is one of the best to try but it’s got milk in it - so enjoy, dairy lovers ;)

almond latte was way over streamed, but i thought the gluten free banana brest was really awesome. i would try returning.

Coffee latte were okay, not much better than Starbucks; pastries not very appealing. Tried artichoke quiche: the artichokes were guite dry: either overbaked or the quiche was sitting on display for some time. I was planning to spend couple of hours in cafe, working on my laptop, but had to leave sooner: the entrance door was squeaking very loudly every time someone came in or out. That long and loud squeak was unbearable after about 15 minutes, it goes on nerves... Had to find another place. I am not coming there again.

***BEWARE OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT***
Came in with a positive attitude looking for a nice cup of coffee with my service dog. The barista was extremely rude and proceeded to tell me that they didn’t allow service dog. My father came in before me with the dog and the owner or the barista didn’t say anything to him, which leads me to believe the barista had a problem with me for no reason. On my way out I decided to tell her that I didn’t appreciate her attitude, I asked for her name and her manager and she wouldn’t tell me. I told her I had been a barista and worked in service and that’s just not how you treat people. She apologized and I left, and her manager followed me to my truck, harassed my father and sister in law, frightened my niece, who is only 3 months old. She then saw me walking across the street and was screaming at me in front of the whole town telling me I wasn’t allowed in her store any more. I work in customer service and know how to be respectful to every type of person, even on a bad day. I am no longer allowed to get coffee here ever again because I stood up for myself. Nobody should be profiled and then get yelled at about it. Not like I would anyway, because overall the coffee is way below average.
