"Great Bear has been roasting small batch, artisanal coffee onsite in our Los Gatos café since 1991. Founded by the Van Epps family and purchased by longtime community member Abdy Mirzadegan in November 2022, Great Bear is focused on its coffee’s freshness and quality. The very first roaster at the Great Bear was trained by Alfred Peet — yes, that Mr. Peet — and over the years we’ve developed our own unrivaled roasts. Our beans grind up to produce a beautifully full, luscious cup of coffee. We start with some of the best green beans and offer a limited selection of roasts, blends, and varietals to ensure the freshness that makes Indoor and Outdoor seating with WiFi. Vegan, Vegetarian, and Wheat Free options. Friendly and welcoming staff."

great bear rules! love their drinks.. homemade whipped cream... baked goods from icing on the cake are delish... and the staff is always helpful and kind. been coming to this place for 20 plus years. hope it sticks around for another 20 more!

This coffee shop is like your mature and wise yet young and hip best friend. I was pleased to find a nice variety of food including gluten free and vegan options along with organic coffee options. There's plenty of space to sit with a group or to work on a laptop. The staff are friendly, the prices are reasonable and there's plenty of 2-3hour free public parking nearby.

We were out for some exercise and ended in Los Gatos. What better way to splurge than get a mocha at Great Bear Coffee? It was perfectly chocolatey and delicious. It made the whole walk worth it!

This place has the best coffee. Period. And yes, I've tried Blue Bottle an Philz which are also quite good, but we always come back here. I recommend the blend called "organic Blue Note". Also the French and Italian are excellent. If you can't have caffeine, their decaf Italian is by far the best decaf I have ever had. There is always a line in here for ordering coffee, but the staff here is so efficient it never takes long.

Nice local coffee shop that roasts their own coffee. Their soy latte is one of the best I've had (probably because it's a little sweet). They roast their own beans in the back, so the place always smells great! They have a pretty small but good selection of savory food items, including a couple vegetarian options.

Charming. A locals fave. Crowded AF most weekends. Better enjoyed in a weekday if you can. A rare gem of Los Gatos. One of the last hold outs of the old historic vibe and last bit of funk left in this over gentrified village. Sit by a window on a cold morning. Perfect.

Great coffee, i like the variety they have in the menu. I would recommend trying maple drinks here. Food is fine probably not that great as compared to other places around.
