Proper Coffee

My wife learned about Proper from Insta prior to us traveling out to LA this week and this ended up being our first stop! I got the Cold Amaretto as my beverage and it is a super smooth cold brew with a dreamy, creamy amaretto topper that ties it all together.

Not pictured is a Jalapeño infused biscuit with cheese and egg that immediately went into my belly due to how good it is! They have these selectable off to the side and they best them up while you wait on your coffee order.

All in all, our first, return, breakfast in CA has been great!

Review from the summer 2022:

It is my second visit at Qargo here. I was stopping by on the sunny morning and June 2022 hoping to repeat the positive experience from my first visit.

Alas, the price is still very reasonable but my latte was not as professionally done as the first time of month. In fact, it burned the tongue of the customer. And it was not smooth as much as during the first visit.

COVID-19 precautions such as mask wearing were not in place at all

There was also an animal in the shop sitting right next to me

It might be a reason to giving this place maybe another try. Hopefully not a last time.

The two male servers are always very nice. Unfortunately, they take forever to make the drinks. I ordered a myffin and asked for a plate. They do not offer such. Had to cut it up on the papdr porch. The store was exceptionally clean. They close too early in the eves especially with Daylight Savings. Brought my Service Animal. They were kind to share a complimentary Puppachino.

Chai latte so sweet you can't taste the chai.

Breakfast sandwiches ... In the fridge that they will microwave for you, but priced like they're fresh.

Serviceable but nothing special.

Leap and bounds better than the chain coffee shops around the area. The desserts are straight from Italy and delicious! I recommend you come try it out if you want to upgrade from your normal coffee experience.

Not sure why the reviews are so high here. Ordered a latte, plain and simple. My milk is burnt, and the foam is lackluster at best. Can't believe I paid more than $6 for this.

SO welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Amazing, high quality coffee. I loved this place.

I have never actually been inside, but order here through GrubHub and DoorDash. This is my new favorite coffee place. You can taste the espresso in the espresso drinks. They make your order correct. So if you're tired of Starbucks making your drink weak, incorrect (wrong milk, forgot syrup, etc) , I recommend giving this place a try. I have never been disappointed and they will have me as a customer forever ❤️

If there were more than 5 stars to give, this place would deserve it. First, I'm a Starbucks loyal...after today...maybe not so much. Their coffee was far better than my best cup at Starbucks or any other coffee shop. Wow! Second, their food was absolutely delicious. Third, their service was AMAZING. They were attentive and great with my kids.

I'm super impressed and hope they franchise out to other locations. I would def be a Qargo loyal.

I was saddened to see The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at this location close as I am to see any business go under, even though it was part of a large chain. Then I went in to visit Qargo Coffee to which opened in the same space. The difference was like night and day literally. Qargo (which serves Lavazza Coffee Products) is so much brighter, open, friendly, and comfortable . Not that Coffee Bean was unfriendly, but these guys have much more of a local coffee hangout feel. They actually get to know the customers and encourage them to stay and hangout and use the WiFi as long as they'd like. But what it always comes down to is the coffee and food products. I have visited a few times now with the intent of trying different coffees off the menu, but the White Chocolate Mocha Latte was so good that I haven't been able to move on, and just keep ordering it. As for the food...I have tried a couple of the desserts and found them to be just as good as the coffee. But with all being said, it is the atmosphere, the neighborhood feel, and the people working there that will keep me coming back for sure!
