Food was delicious. We loved all of the items in the store. Hubby is a cheese person so the selection of different cheeses was great. Tour is geared towards toddlers so definitely bring your kids. The waterfall and flowers on the grounds are also beautiful.

Great place! Super educational, well maintained and neat, and really good cheese. We enjoyed their little movie that talks about how it all works.

The visitor center is an amazing pitstop if you are in the area and love cheese. They have a Peet’s coffee store, local ice cream shop and a food court inside. Special cheese manufacturing sessions for kids with great displays and intuitive design. Highly recommended!!!

So much good stuff in this place. So much to look at. Fresh lunch is prepared and a coffee bar. So much fresh and local products. Fave hard to come by product is the squeakers! And they have pepper jack now. Yumm!!! They have a wide variety of cheeses, nuts, jams, glazes, decorations. Love the variety. Wish they were open longer on the weekends. Hard to make it there sometimes.

Nice and clean and everyone was so polite. Snack bar (even though I don't have any), the sandwiches and the warmed cookies were good, and other snacks looked great. Cheeses are great and love the squeaker cheese strange but I like it. Thank you.

Here's my official report on yesterday's Field Trip to the Hilmar Cheese Company.
How fun... and STINKY!
The Hilmar Cheese Company has an immersive educational experience for school-aged children. While I imagine that it can be tailored to those younger than my Second Graders, I think that classes up to about Fifth Grade would enjoy this trip.
Our time spent there started off by watching an interactive video hosted by "Daisy The Cow" in front of a large display. It explained to us how the dairy process is sustainable and recyclable, all while showing us exactly how it was done.
After the video was over, we headed upstairs to a big observation room where the kids did a science experiment. They shook their own cream, sugar and vanilla in aluminum containers with ice to make fresh vanilla ice cream. Our Tour Guides taught us a cute song about sustainable dairy farming, then took us through the educational stations where we got to see it for ourselves.
If you would like to see it for yourself in under three minutes, please take a look at my reel for the day at @katiewileydesign on IG.

Oh. My. Goodness, y'all!!! The absolute BEST grilled cheese sandwich and Cheese chowder I have EVER had!!! I also really enjoyed walking around the gift shop and the sidewalk leading to the waterfall you can walk under! Will definitely be back the next time we're in California!

A wonderful experience, loved the many jellies to try and the deli was wonderful. Lots of very informative article boards to read describing the whole cheese making process. A family friendly location, it is only 2 floors and pretty short but it's well done. Really enjoyed the outside waterfall garden with a full flowing stream, you can take some wonderful photos there or just hangout and enjoy a small picnic, would definitely recommend and will definitely return.

Not bad. They don't do guided tours during the afternoon so most likely you won't get a guided tour. However, you can still wander around the gift shop/cafe and the upstairs area on your own. There is also a park like area outside which is nice.
There are free cheese samples but they were mostly out of cheese when I was there.
Upstairs, there are some interesting things to check out and an area where you can see people working in the factory. The upstairs room is mostly geared towards children but still enjoyable for teens and adults.
