Used to better. From staff competency (had to repeat my order several times and still got a bowl of soup not a cup, was told after they lacked an ingredient for my order so had to change it on the fly) to quality of food (soup was mainly the thick base with little clam or potato I tossed half of it, sandwich was skimpy on ingredients and drenched in mayo). Also, shims to stabilize the tables would be a good idea.

After reading the reviews, I was kind of excited to go eat here because I wanted something homestyle and tasty. But sadly I was deeply dissatisfied. I tried the Beef Stroganoff which doesn't even deserve a star. It was described on the menu as beef feed grass and slow cooked. Sounds yummy right? After I took my first bite I realized something was off, really off. In fact there was no meat what so ever in the noodle and gravy mix they gave me. I asked the counter staff if there was suppose to be chunks of meet of if it was just suppose to be slow cooked to a meatless gravy with noodles. The staff member, said of course not, re-did the beef stroganoff and gave it back to me shortly after. To my second disappointment it was still lousy, had like 4 small chunks of beef, still had a very weird vinegary taste to it that made it very unpleasant to withstand. I didn't want to be rude, so I just went up to the counter and ask if I could get a soup as well and placed the nasty beef stuff in the dirty dish bin.
Well the Soup I would give two stars, it was an extremely salty broccoli and cheddar soup and half of the to go cup had soup splattered all over one side. I think this was my first and last trip to Humboldt Soup Company. What a disappointment. The only reason I am eating the soup now is because I spent about 20 bucks on the two items including a juice and I'm pretty much starving at this point.

2/3 of the times we have come here they have closed early and we were unable to order. The sandwiches are pretty good and we have to drive pretty far to get there....I just wish their google hours would update if they decide to close early :(

Ate lunch there. Had soup and 1/2 sandwich. People working there were friendly and sharp. Food was good. Place was clean. Wife (vegetarian) thoroughly enjoyed her salad and sandwich. Prices were reasonable for the type of healthier food.

It's I love it or hate it restaurant. we trying to selection of a few soups of the day, 10 or 12 different types of sandwiches it isn't bad. But it's one of those places where you can't order without onions cuz all mixed together. Good for the price, but couldn't imagine going there more than a few times

I come here so often for lunch, the staff knows me by name. I have only once had a less than yummy meal. The sandwiches are amazing, soups are delicious, and salads fresh. The hand pies are flaky and amazing.

The food in this place is low quality. The owner of the business doesn't put any effort into the food. It tastes like canned or packaged food. There are so many better choices out there. Make a better choice and spend your hard earned money somewhere else and get the quality you deserve.

Lots of menu items to choose from: soup, sandwiches, and salads. Reminds me of Panera. The staff are very friendly :)

I was happy to find out I could substitute in avocado instead of meat :)

I had the salad. The menu said basalmic dressing, but for some reason it came with creamy dressing :(

My friend had one tiny piece of bacon on his sandwich, so he wasn't happy about that. My other friend who ordered meatloaf and mac & cheese said he wouldn't order it again.

I'll happily eat here again.

For almost $20 for 2 bowls of soup & such good reviews we expected something really good. The stroganoff soup was apparently better than my broccoli cheddar (decidedly 1 if the easiest & most flavorful soups to make....typically) although my mom said the gravy tasted commercial...like it came from a jar at the grocery store. Mine had literally ZERO flavor, none at all. CAMPBELL'S cheddar broccoli has more flavor. The bread was good, & gave the soup enough flavor to eat a little...until I ran out. I threw about $6 worth of soup away bc it just wasn't worth choking down. So disappointed. Back to Panara bread. Don't waste your money...the food thus far in N.CA is NOTHING to write home about :-(
