Four years ago I wrote an excellent review of this place, good coffee, good food, good customer vibes, and all that kind of stuff. But at some point I stopped coming... somehow the employees did not feel right. Ever since the first visit four years ago, I have NEVER experienced a warm and friendly encounter. Recently I came in in the afternoon to just get a pastry, after 10 minutes of wait, the cashier/barista took the order from the gentleman in front of me, and left me there for another 5 minutes until one of the employees bothered to ask me what I wanted. All these 15 minutes I was the ONLY customer standing there. Just not what people wanted from a cozy local coffee shop.

The food was delicious and the service was wonderful! It was packed, and for good reason :)
espresso
Delicious cookies!
Espresso is good, but too acidic for me

staff was so rude. the lady who took my order barely said hi (hollister cali shirt on). the person who called out my coffee order couldn’t have been more annoyed because they MAYBE said it twice. mind you i had a baby in my arms, my bad i didn’t hear the first time. asked a lady for a bag for my burrito to go, and she just fully ignored it and walked away haha. second star is for decent food and coffee.

I love to support local businesses and glad to see a local coffee shop thriving. But there are a few things that can be improved:
1.Staff consistency - doesn't seem that staff are consistently trained, they don't seem to have a good workflow, hence all kinds of mistakes on drinks and takes forever to get the order eventhough there are 6-7 people behind the counter. e,g, you specifically ask for regular milk and 50% of the time ended up with Oat Milk in the drinks by mistakes. Which is so frustrating after you paid $4-$5 for a drink, only come home to find out it's not made correctly. One time it took almost 20 min to get the drinks from the time it's ordered. Forget about the food that came out of the kitchen, definitely online order ahead of time.
2. Online order - it's nice to have online order, but then they don't make the drinks until you arrive. Even if I put it in the note please make ahead, they don't seem to read the note, so still have to wait with everybody else.
You also cannot put an order online for pastries, understand the quantity is not guaranteed, so you've to get in line with every body to order.
Bottom line: there is no quick in and out of this place, leave plenty of time if you plan to go here. It's great coffee, just wish they'll improve on the process, some of us have to rush to work in the morning and drop off kids etc.

Nice drinks and pastries. About 15 minute wait time on weekend mornings. Good place to read or relax. Tables and floor definitely need some sweeping. Other than that everything else was nice.

I've been a customer at Blue Butterfly for 5-6 year now and the service and quality of drinks has gone down to the point id rather go to Starbucks down the road. Literally a 5 minute walk or 2 minute drive. The baristas don't know how to properly make drinks anymore and they don't know what products they even offer. I get blank stares asking for a sweetener and then given "vanilla flavor" as a option for sweetener or a rude mutter and eye rolls when i ask for my drink to be made correctly. The energy between the baristas is even hostile and it comes across in their drinks.
I don't know what happened to this place - but they used to be the best in town and now i don't even consider them or refer friends there. Maybe it was the baristas at the time who cared about the drinks they made or a manager that cared about the store and quality but either way something has changed and not for the better.
Stick to making coffee at home or go to the other 5 places in town walking distance

Best coffee!! Super cute environment and in a great neighborhood! Love this place. If you like Mochas get the “White Mocha.”

Great coffee, good selection too. This place is always busy but I’m usually in and out in 15 minutes or less. Pastries are worth checking out and we’ve had some of their breakfast sandwiches, I recommend them.
