I'm not a reviewer that is stingy with his stars, nor do I throw them carelessly and irresponsibly at places to skew the honest opinions of customers.. When I award someone five stars, they've earned them. They've met the expectations of an establishment that does exactly what they're supposed to, exactly what they promise to, and exactly what I'll return to.
Blue Butterfly Coffee Co. was out of the way for my plans for the day, but I needed a spot to sit and do some work. When I arrived, I was sad to not see any open seats where I could set up camp and get my work done, so I just ordered a cortado and French toast and hopped up to the beautiful wooden bar.
I didn't watch them make my drink, too busy trying to watch everything else in this bustling shop. The super quiet Malkhonig conical grinder spat out its dose. Each dose is carefully spun with a grounds distributor, and then tamped with a mechanical tamp. They've spared no expense to get all the variables of espresso in line.. I couldn't discern what milk was used, but when I received my drink I didn't care much...this was one of the top three cortados I've had anywhere.. The only improvement would be to give the coffee in the glass a quick stir before topping with milk...
The French toast came sprinkled with powered sugar and a side of real, warm maple syrup.. Ahh, real maple syrup... Some of the best breakfast establishments I've been to still refuse to offer this natural condiment with their cakes and toasts, but this coffee shop gives more than I'd ever need. Such a relief..
Great French toast. Great cortado.. I think I'll have some tea next.

My second time here at blue butterfly. Just as delicious as I remembered. Matcha green tea latte and cappuccino were also purchased. Cute little place in the heart of downtown el segundo. Great prices and friendly staff. Local favorite breakfast spot

This cafe is very small with some seating inside and some outside as well, front and back. Plenty of drink options and the food menu is a bit smaller but this cafe offers great choices.
I ordered an iced mocha, my go-to, and I wasn’t disappointed. I also ordered a cheese bagel that included tomato, cream cheese, avocado and bacon which was delicious. My boyfriend ordered an omelette that had steak, mushrooms, onions, spinach and cheese and he really enjoyed it.
All in all I think it’s a great place to eat. Parking is a little more difficult to find but if you’re in the area I recommend checking it out!

We found the food and service to be great. Sat outside in the back patio area and had lovely time with friendly staff. Definitely recommend it! The blue butterfly tea was delicious too.

L O V E this place! Perfect for coffee nerds and people like me (who put 1/2 & 1/2 in their coffee) Yummy food & baked items. My fave afternoon drink is the Purple Palmer. (It IS my name). Stop by when in Wl Segundo!

I always appreciate when a place goes above and beyond to accommodate your preferences. Although many people inside had disposable cups, I asked the cashier who helped me if they had anything reusable and he came back with a glass jar for my iced lavender matcha latte. (Earth win!) He subbed the whole milk for almond milk and it is was refreshing and delightful! I worked for two hours in a pleasant atmosphere and was very happy with my experience there. Many thanks, Blue Butterfly.

Absolutely loved this place the first time I went, but the second time made me so
uncomfortable. I asked if they were still serving food at 2 pm and they told me no that they put their menus away and closed the kitchen early today because it usually closes at 3. I was fine with that and ordered a tea and sat outside. A few minutes later a different customer came out with food they clearly just got saying “a girl tried to order food but they put the menus away on her and told her no”. I don’t know if they were being lazy or just didn’t want to serve me food, but the whole experience made me feel bad and so uncomfortable and not want to spend any time or money there again

Always a little cramped inside, but consistently great coffee. The ham and cheese quiche came out cold and mushy, but that’s the first mediocre item we’ve received so far.
