The coffee is pretty good, I had the Kenyan coffee.

The low score is because of how I was treated personally. I will start off by saying that all the people working that day were really nice and helpful. But they forgot about my order and I was left sitting at the end of the bar for 10 minutes. That's fine, I understand mistakes happen, even though there was only 1 other customer there at the time.

When one of the baristas noticed the mistake, he told me that he would refund the purchase to my card and I thought "Oh! That's incredibly nice of them, I love this place." It has been a week and a half and no such charge back has been issued.

I don't like liars.

I used to love this place, but the quality has gone downhill. Customer service is ok, espresso is overextracted and has a bitter after taste beyond the norm. I went back and ordered another drink just to check and it was the same. Both peets and Starbucks pull better shots for way cheaper. Sorry portola.

Absolutely the most delicious coffee around. Always perfect and the seasonal variety of whole bean coffee makes for some tough decisions!!

Great pour over coffee selection amd knowledgeable staff to help navigate the menu and narrow your selection. The Pastry selection not too bad either!

Excellent espresso, reminiscent of Stumptown up in Portland.

Good, friendly service and great coffee and espresso drinks along with some tasty baked treats. I'm not an aficionado but the drinks are never bitter or overly sweet. Get the mocha for a rich coffee drink that isn't overly sweet (think dark chocolate type sweetness) and a sausage roll for a snack.

Great coffee exactly how a proper coffee should be served. Felt I was back home in Australia drinking a decent cup of coffee ☕️

This is a really critical review since they are known in the industry to serve some of the best coffee. I had high expectations to say the least, but compared to other coffee that I've had that's in the same league, it was just OK. Latte art was sloppy on my mocha, steamed coffee was too hot and the espresso tasted a little burnt. They also forgot my friend's "Trifecta". No big deal, it happens, but I have to mention. Cool location and seating. People had an attitude.

Although it is a small location, very efficient and professional ! Can get busy in the AM and at least your waiting for incredible coffee/espresso and not mediocre! Honestly one of the best espressos I've ever had and I'm Colombian! :D
