Great spot for lunch, snack or pot of tea! Kate's features a nice outdoor seating area on the perimeter of the pedestrian only streets of historic Columbia. The tea selection is expansive and their food menu was has a number of great salads, sandwiches, soups and baked dishes. I went for the Chlyes Favorite (pickled asparagus, dill cream cheese and a bunch of other fresh veggies) on a croissant with the nice bleu cheese, cranberry and walnut salad as the included side.

The service was very good, and the food was good as well, however the desert was bland it was supposed to be a lemon bar and didn't have much lemon flavored to it. Also the pastry in the desert and the pastry in the quiche needed salt. Overall it was good and I will return

Kate's is a teahouse with a twist. They not only have the expected traditional freshly brewed loose leaf teas but many custom blends, too, including blackberry - a great choice for iced tea on a hot summer afternoon! Kate's serves a traditional English tea with tiny crustless sandwiches and freshly backed scones with clotted cream and jam. However, unique salads, sandwiches and entrees like chicken pot pie (yum!) and meatloaf makes Kate's a great stop fir lunch. The Nest salad topped with Kate's own chicken salad is a delight. The Cowboy sandwich with warm sliced roast turkey and real bacon bits on house baked bread is oh so good. Finally, don't even get me started on the house baked pastries, croissants, scones and cookies - wow! And if it's a nice day, relax with your tea or luncheon in the outdoor garden and then stroll through Columbia, an historic gold rush town with a working blacksmith, stables, and a well-stocked Merchantile. If you have the time, check out a play at Sierra Repertory Theatre, a performing arts theater with an old fashioned ice cream parlor in the lobby!

My sister introduced us to Columbia Kate's Teahouse. I ate a normal lunch (soup and sandwich) with a wonderful smoky tea. I think my tea was Russian. Everyone else scarfed down scones and tea. I refused the scones because I know my sister makes them best, so why hurt Kate’s feelings with visible rejection. This is a great place that should be on everyone’s list of places to go while at Columbia State Historic Park.

Tea is fantastic! Had the Rimfire tea with the three tea sandwiches and a side of baked potatoe soup followed by a lavender white chocolate chip scone. I had the chicken salad, egg salad, and cucumber sandwiches. The chicken salad is really good with a bit of a kick. Rimfire tea was excellent! Will definitely come back.

Food and beverages were excellent. They were very busy but sat us done quickly and served pretty quickly. Would recommend them, but also you should make a reservation

Went inside this afternoon while looking around town with my lady. It was hot and we wanted something cool to drink and a snack. Was never greeted. Was ignored. After the women helped the nice lady who came in after we did we were not even spoken to. We waited patiently and not one of the workers would acknowledge our presence or even make eye contact. Obviously a self proclaimed Brit tea house is too good to serve paying Cornish patrons. Discrimination is alive and well in that little tea shack.

We had a delightful meal at this country-style tea house. The recipes were very creative and the food was delicious. There were dozens of tea varieties from which to choose - a daunting decision!

Could be great, as the setting is cute/quaint. It lacks adequate management, and has become less than average in the service dept and available baked goods in their little store.
