I don't know how anyone can say the service here is horrible! I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes at a time, even at the peak of the morning rush when everyone is ordering sandwiches along with their coffee drinks. The employees are absolutely some of the kindest, sweetest, and most efficient baristas there are! My absolute favorites are Adriana and Nadia, the dream team of my caffeinated morning! My dog, Eli, goes bananas when we hit the driveway and they always have a treat and a kind word for him!
Java Detour on Mangrove is the best coffee house in Chico and blows places like Starbucks and Dutch Bros. right out of the water!

I have been going to this place for 10+ years, & in the past few months the service has gone downhill. Today was my breaking point tho. If I could give no stars, I would. My mocha was extremely disgusting, it tastes watered down & just wrong. Usually I don't complain about little things, which are often messed up, with my drink. Like I said, 10+ yrs, same order. I know what it should taste like. Sounds ridiculous, but I know what the cup should weigh in my hand when it's full . Many times its been short by an inch, or overruled with too much foam, etc. But, I don't complain, cuz overall, I'm happy with my coffee, & I'm not that person who is never satisfied. So, today, they remade it for me, after I had been driving half way home, & I just couldn't drink it, or taste like ways down espresso shots, with a hint of hot chocolate mix, (I know this cuz I have an espresso machine at home & have experimented a bunch with it. ) So, I go back after I've been home with my 2nd one, & I tried stirring it, my bf tried it, yet still, IT'S WATERED DOWN & WRONG! So I go back, they make me a 3rd one, while insisting it's not wrong, do they taste then? NO! So how would they know? They gave me my 3rd watered down disgusting mocha & even tho I tried it right there & said its still watered down, they just stood there, like they can't do anything. So I say, I guess I'll have to go somewhere else today. She smiles & says "okay", & that's it. No offer to refund my money, no we're sorry, we'll look into the problem, like I told them, I strongly believe the espresso is coming out to watered down. But, they doidn't care, tbey do nothing! I miss the lady who was the manager abt 6 months ago. I think her name was Natalie or something, I'm bad with names, but she was a great, caring manager! So ill end with this, they have lost a 10+year customer, until something changes there. I'd rather go to Dutch Bros., where they care when your Sri n is wrong, they remake it without making you feel like you're wrong, & half the time they will give you a half filled stamp card or give you your coffee free if, especially if thru messed up 3 times over! Actually Dutch wouldn't mess it up 3 times!!

The people who work here are great and the Butterfinger mocha is amazing. Their quality has been consistent across their different locations as well. Love this place!

This place, let me tell you. Great drinks great people, great flavor. I wouldn't go anywhere else if it meant having only one selection of drink choice, or free drinks somewhere else . This place is the best.

Best coffee in Chico!! In the rain, cold, heat...it doesn't matter, you're coffee will be there in a flash!! These girls work their butts off to get your coffee fast!!

I am like everyone else who has the opportunity to be served in their car - like the olden A&W's I miss dearly - I just love the place. I look forward to my trip to the window or service while I am in line - makes my day little more serene. The positively friendly attitudes of JAVA DETOUR HOSTESSES are a necessary experience each day. Thank You - JAVA DETOUR. Paul, etc. et al.

Every time I go I have horrible service. They are not friendly or helpful. They never get my drink right or I'll ask for a service once and the next time they can't do it. Very inconstant. They only reason I go there is because of the breakfast sandwiches, which they stop serving at 10 am now. Thank you taking the only thing that you did right and cutting the time you serve it in.

Only coffee shop I go to in town any more. You have to try their cold brew. It's fantastic
