Jakes Original Tex Mex Cafe

Always friendly and the food is always good. My favorite is the chocolate cake they make. I drive across town just to pick up some desert for later.
The restaurant looks clean as well. I don't know if they are allowing indoor dinning yet.

A locally loved restaurant, with much good reason. Parking could be better, but you can only do so much. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Bakersfield. EAT HERE IT'S ONE OF THE GREATEST!

I haven’t ate here! However my car broke down in the busy street and the owner helped push my car into the parking lot with no hesitation and let me come inside for some water and air conditioning while I waited on Geico. I’m pregnant and this heat was absolutely killing me while I waited out here. She noticed and took action so the gesture was really nice and appreciated :). Definitely going to give this place a try on a day they’re open. Thank you so so much!!

I love Jake's. The good is very good. The taco salad is my favorite, but nothing is bad. The chocolate cake is to die for, seriously. I also really enjoy the decor and atmosphere. It's a fun place to eat. My only disappointment is the salsa, it used to be chunky and now they serve it warm.

We went to pick up dinner to eat at home. The meat we got really didn't have flavor and corn bread was, in my opinion, too dry and the beans were not too bad. I liked the food better when I would go and eat lunch at the restaurant. Of course, we cannot enjoy inside seating yet. Too bad.

Shredded beef was quite tasty, but everything else was just ok. It was over $40 with the tip for 2. Something didn't agree with me and I was sick a few hours later. I suspect it was the bbq sauce as maybe there was gluten in it since tomato paste can contain that, even though the staff knew I am hypersensitive to gluten.🤔 Sad that I paid so much to get sick.

The food is always consistently wonderful! Everything is fresh and very flavorful! The staff is always incredibly friendly and efficient. Portions are very hearty! That being said it would be nice if they included a side with Sandwiches and such for the price. Sides are only included if you get a meat plate.
