Nice little place for breakfast or lunch. The food was good

First time visit this place and my last one, I’ve waited exactly an hour for my food and I had to cancel, I told the waitress to charge me for the drinks and she said that we were next but unfortunately it was too much of of wait; we’ll I paid for two lemonades and an orange juice; that if I were a manager I wouldn’t charge for; but I don’t mind much!
Also while I was waiting for the food some other customer were complaining as well and besides that I notice that inspection letter was a B”
Waitress was nice lady! And that’s the star for…
I love to visit local restaurants in kern and I learn to tip well; but this is my worst experience in the County.

Another 1st for me and I was not disappointed! Food was very delicious and I got it at my scheduled time

Donna Kaye's has certainly fallen a long way downhill in the past few years since I last visited. This review would have been a single star if the serving staff hadn't been so nice. The food however was Cafeteria level, at best. My "Italian Sausage and Cheese" omelet was made from a 3rd graders science project. Consisting of old, overcooked regular sausage, powder egg mix, and 2 pieces of SLICED lunch cheese on top. The flavor was non-existent and grotesque to look at.
I'm not trying to be mean here but if you are going to charge $13.+ for a breakfast, please don't serve things that you can get for $4.50 from a vending machine. The truth is, Donna, if you can't afford good ingredients or hire a cook that even cares even a little, I'd say it's time to close your doors until you do.

Had the chicken fried 🍤 steak with biscuits and gravy. Overall a 4 star feel with a local nieghborhood vibe . The steak could be a bit more tender but was still tasty enough. I'll still go back and try out other menu options for a more detailed and full observations.

Customer service is excellent. Food fell a tad short though. My dish, Hamburger Steak. was bland. My daughters eggs and bacon were ok. Waffles were very good. I would visit again to give them the benefit of the doubt.

The best breakfast we have ever had in the US. Great hospitality, delicious food. Difficult to eat the whole portion!!! Perfect beginning of the day 💚💚💚

The waitress was wonderful. Unfortunately, the food was below par.
We ordered:
Chilaquiles - They were not authentic, and the sauce could be compared to ketchup almost. The tortillas were not evenly cooked or cooked with the sauce.
Biscuits and Gravy - The gravy tasted like flour and the Biscuits were doughy and flavorless.
Sausage and cheese omelet - The cheese was not melted, the sausage was not cooked into the omelet.
Hash browns and country potatoes were burned and cooked unevenly.
Almost $50 spent for bites of food .... I'm sorry but not a place I can go back to

We were coming back from LA to San Francisco and decided to have breakfast at Donna Kaye’s Cafe. We felt like we were in a 60’s movie. The staff were very friendly and treated the clients by name as they knew them for decades. The food was well served and delicious!

One place I never thought I'd have menudo at, but, they killed it! So damn good. Better than my own recipe. I highly recommend you go and try out. Service is also great.
