If you don't mind the rundown diner atmosphere and slightly slower than average service, this diner is a great place to eat.

That being said, let's dive in.

Just because this diner is a bit old and off the beaten path, doesn't take away from its charm or friendly staffs environment. Sure, the walls are a little worn and the building is old. But, it's clean, and comfortable.

Eating here really gives you the feeling that you're in a very small town where everybody knows everyone.

Today's service was a little slow. It took us about 30 to 40 minutes to get our food. However, the atmosphere and company made up for the difference. Most contributing to the delay, was the fact that this diner is completely packed. And, justifiably so.

The food was fantastic. Portions were just over normal size allowing you to eat all that you wanted with a little left over.

The location is off of main highway and in a rundown area of town. However, there wasn't too much trouble with vagrancy or riff raff.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this place if you are wanting a great home cooked style meal at a price that is justified by the quality and quantity of food.

Location is easy to find and there is plenty of parking. Some parking is even covered. They have plenty of outdoor seating so it's best to eat outdoors in the morning when the building is keeping everything and cool shade. Inside had plenty of decorations and set a downtown home Vive.
Service was great because we were seated right away and they were incredibly friendly. Are waitress spoke Spanish and English fluently. She also had a good recommendation and offered a child's menu when she noticed that we didn't have one. She was even relaxed enough to try to give her a kid a fist bump even though he was too shy.
Food was very good home style diner cooking. Decent portion sizes but filled us all up with food to spare.
Most everything is cooked from whole products and from what we could tell, nothing pre-made or frozen. This means less corn. I did not have a corn reaction from eating here for those who follow me for my corn allergy.

Nice local cafe with friendly staff and home style food. Located just off the highway it's a nice place to get a quick bite. Large portions at a good value.

Food was amazing!!! I got the cinnamon roll French toast with scrambled eggs and I added cheese and jalapeños. You gotta get the bacon! She got vegetarian omelette with hashbrowns and biscuits and gravy all for $45 with tip

Super friendly service and the best breakfast I’ve had in a very long time.

Chicken fried chicken was delicious, pork chops tender and amazing.

Donna Kaye’s Cafe can be recommended for a great breakfast. The menu has a lot of options for breakfast.
I came in for breakfast today, my waitress, sorry don’t remember her name, did a wonderful job.
I ordered the French toast combo, it comes with two eggs and style, two pieces of bacon or sausage and two pieces of French toast. My meal came out fast, fresh and hot. It was very good.

Ok,, soo while in Bakersfield CA .. we found this Restaurant…soo stinken good,, love ❤️ it be back.. service great !!! Ate 3 times 😲😬🤭😋

Delicious! I got the Hobo Special with country potatoes, biscuit and gravy and my Mom got the Chilliques with chile verde and the eggs over medium. We also got french toast with cream cheese and fruit. The fruit inside was blue berries and strawberries.

Great food. Everyone is very friendly. Love it here.

Service was pretty good. Food was very slow to come out and mostly just ok unfortunately. Chicken fried steak and biscuits and gravy were just ok mostly because the gravy needed more flavor. Skip the chilaqueles. The steak with bacon, mushrooms, and onions was excellent! Great coffee! Huge cinnamon rolls!!
