An excellent tea house with a very nice selection of high tea snacks and a bottomless pot of tea. You get to try as many teas as you want, and they have a huge selection! They have pu-erh and mate teas, which are new to me (the iron silk pu-erh and roasted mate were nice), also had the sencha and baroness Earl Gray, but my favorite was the lapsong souchong! It stands out with a distinctive smoky flavor. Definitely a new fave! Already planning to go back and try more.

Went Saturday as a going away get together for a friend. There were three of us girls and two guys. We all had a lot of fun and felt very posh. We were all able to try a lot of different teas because of the endless pots that come with each order. Your order also comes with various treats depending on what you order. It was actually all very filling. The husband and wife who run the place are also very nice. What I love most is the cozy, homey atmosphere and the huge variety of interesting teas such as "Mexican Winter", "Strawberry Shortcake", "Snowflake" and SO much more!

This place never disappoints. The scones are divine. They have a large selection of teas, and usually have them all available. The owners and staff are very friendly and hospitable. The house isn't in the best shape, but the inside had wonderful antiques and beautiful China.

My wife and I stayed one night. The food is excellent, the tea selection and quality is superb, and the hospitality, passion and knowledge made this a wonderful experience. The room was comfortable and the amenities were great, we felt very comfy. Thank you David and Beth

As I live in Prattville, I only ever go to the smith-byrd bed, breakfast, and tea room for their tea. However, the experience never disappoints. They have a wide selection of teas and incredible food, and I have never been served anything that I didn't like. I recommend this place to anyone that even thinks they might like tea.

I had a Bucket list wish to go to the Smith Byrd tea room for afternoon tea and went on Saturday 8/18. I must have gone to a different place than everyone else..when arriving the grounds were horribly overgrown, and dirty looking. As we walked in MANY cats were scattering one with a HUGE hole in it's back. The owner told us they had feral cats there and that.was one. When we went into the restroom it reeked of cat urine. We received our meal and my granddaughter found a petrified house fly on her tea cake. They did comp us out her meal although after that no one wanted anything else to eat. After leaving the restaurant I told my daughter I had seen many teeny ants on our table but hadn't said anything at the time. My daughter told me she had a fruit fly on her food also. It could be a real pretty spot but there's NO QUALITY CONTROL... When you arrive LOOK AT THE CONDITION OF THE HOUSE AND FOLLOW YOUR INSTINCTS..I wish I had..

Place is over grown & ran down.
Cat everywere...
Porch is very cluttered with ladder and Lumber. Old broke down wicker table and chair set in front side yard side yard.
Balcony above front porch is literally falling off.

Found the Smith-Byrd House online while looking for tea. Very pleased with the atmosphere, hospitality of the innkeepers, and the selection and quality of the teas. Upon walking in the door David and Beth both greeted me and made me feel at home and were very knowledgeable, patient, and kind. If you're in a hurry and running a little late you can call and they can have your tea order ready for pickup, a gesture that shows they really care about their guests and is almost unheard of these days. The ambiance of the Smith-Byrd House created by David and Beth takes you back to a time of civility and good will and will make you not want to leave. I am looking forward to bringing the family for their inclusive afternoon tea.

Typically, my daughter's first question upon getting back from college two states away is "when are we going to the teahouse? " The Smith-Byrd is not the typical Southern teahouse, this is the exceptional service and quality that is reminiscent of a small teahouse in Europe. It leaves me with the warm comfortable sensation that only fantastic scones and a bottomless pot of tea can!

Hidden gem in Prattville!!! My new favorite spot. If you love tea and British style tea service (a la Downton Abbey) this place is for you. I invited one of my best friends and had the most relaxing afternoon catching up. I loved that they didn't rush us and were so patient with all our questions. They have every tea imaginable! You'll find more and better tea here than at Teavana. You can rent the tea room for different events and they offer scone making classes. I'm definitely going to get a group of friends together for a girls afternoon. Highly recommend!
