Drove through from out of town and saw that they were open on a Sunday night. That was a plus! Very charming place. However, despite all the good reviews, we were very disappointed. We let the people in line move ahead of us and told the lady at the counter that we needed a quick minute to order because we had never been before. The menu was extensive--lots of great looking drinks. But instead of helping us she just pointed at the signs and walked away. I told her I couldn't have dairy and she told me my options were straight brewed coffee (not soy milk, almond milk, hot tea, etc...LOTS of options without dairy.) She was not friendly at all, and actually seemed a little bothered by us. When our drinks were ready, the barista simply put them on the counter. Didn't let us know they were ready or anything. Simply placed them down and walked away. Both our drinks were WAY too hot and the coffee was weak. We were hoping maybe the coffee was good enough to overlook the staff (I like to give not-so-friendly service second chances just because you just don't know if someone has just had a bad day, especially when they have a lot of good reviews). But it wasn't. We visit Mobile very often and it would have to take a lot of convincing for us to go back. Very disappointing.

I had a hankering for a spot of tea and scones. Carpe Diem made it so, and then some! Walking in, the atmosphere is relaxing with soft lighting, with many sitting areas - some tables and chairs while others were comfy chairs set up living room style. The woman helping me provided exceptional customer service by giving me recommendations (even letting me smell the tea!) and assisting me and my service dog get settled at my table. Both my tea and scone were absolutely delicious! My husband joined me after work and we both tried their BLT on a croissant, also incredibly good. Thank you Carpe Diem, I'll definitely be coming back!

I spent the vast majority of my college years on that back porch. I've met some of my best friends there. Great coffee, service, and food. Coffee is roasted right in store. Pet friendly. Parking is limited.

Merchandise is a little pricy, but considering the posh neighborhood it's in, higher prices are to be expected.

This is coming from an ex-barista. They have one of the best coffee’s I’ve ever had and delicious egg and cheese sandwiches. Phenomenal vibe as well.

All we had to do was walk in the back door and the aroma of Carpe Diem's roasting coffee invaded our senses. Our son-in-law grinned and said, "I told you so!" For the rest of our visit we drove from Daphne/Spanish Fort for coffee. Our last day in Mobile we purchased a bag and it tastes as good home-brewed in Southern Cal as in Mobile, AL. Some days we stood in a line, but for coffee this good, who cares?

The venue is nice. The mocha latte was ok. Chicken salad was ok but overpriced. The thing I dislike is that the guy who took my order told me they would call out to let you know your coffee was ready. They bring the food to the table but not the drinks. Perhaps he did. The place is very noisy so if he did there was no way for me to hear. In any event my coffee was lukewarm at best. I would bypass the busy, hard to find parking venue and go elsewhere. I want my coffee hot...
