On my journey around local breakfast places, The National Cafe has been on my list of places to look forward to for a while. However, the experience and food falls short of its reputation. I had the American breakfast, which was incredibly average and bland. The ham seemed just like deli ham and was a bit briny. I was also disappointed with the nearly complete separation between staff and customers. You need to order and pay off your phone, and the only other interaction you have with staff is when they bring your food. There are plenty of breakfast places that get my repeat business, this one isn't worth it unfortunately.

We went to this restaurant because the menu in the website looked nicely labeled for allergies. However when we got to the restaurant, the menu was only available through QR code and you had to order from your seat. No human being engaged us or otherwise served us to this point. Yet for some reason the transaction asks for a tip!
How are we supposed to rate your service when you haven’t provided it yet?
The food was ok but cold, and so were the people who brought the food. Terrible to provide bad service AFTER we tipped.

I went here because they had vegan options. Angela sure knows her stuff! The vegan breakfast sammy was DELICIOUS! Definitely a repeat. This place was PACKED!

Yum! I randomly discovered this place and so glad I did! They have a good variety of fresh food options along with great tea/coffee. You may have to wait a little for your food, but it's worth it. The atmosphere is so cozy and it's not too loud inside. I look forward to returning!

Clean, quiet, nice. Expensive for a self-ordering diner, menu reads better than the food as served. French toast had one strawberry sliced thin, Cobb salad lettuce was wilty. The area has much better to offer.

The food was delicious. I ordered the Hot Mess. I paid extra for the fancied up potatoes bit there didn't seem to be a big difference for the price. The coffee was strong and flavorful. The atmosphere had a cozy retro vibe. The staff wasn't super friendly but the overall experience was nice.

The vegan options I tried are the regular food options, they just charge you more and take out the non vegan ingredients.
The French toast was perfect. They used paper instead of plastic which is great👍

Fantastic little patio out back, had five small round tables most with umbrellas. No mosquitoes, plenty of breeze, and birds. Delightful. Food was excellent, large portion. Drinks- chai tea was very tasty, not too sweet. Their special lemonade was very sweet, almost hard to drink. The fruit on the side was very fresh and tasty. They are accommodating with simple requests. I don't know if they offer a specific children's menu, however there is plenty to chose from, where you could share. Will be back.

Love the National and their sister cafe The Lafayette place.

Not bad but nothing special. The cafe works only till 3 pm from Tuesday to Sunday. Staff was friendly, tea was good, coffee was so so, croissants were really delicious. Orders are made at the counter. It isn’t the place we want to return to. Rather ordinary.
