Interval is a new small plate hot spot with an acclaimed chef at the helm, and a cozy approach at fine dining.

Food: My wife and I were seated promptly, and told that both the chef and bartender would be up to talk. We were a bit confused, but interval has both the bartender and chef discuss the options on the menu, and tailor a meal to your liking. Our drinks were very good (especially the drink with their special coffee they brew.) Travis (chef) came up to discuss the menu options for the night, and also offered a tasting menu as well. We started with the lobster rolls, pork belly and beet salad. The beet salad was a beets four ways, and was quite good. The pork belly was cooked very well, and cut so that it didn’t overly sway one way (fat to meat ratio.) That said, by far the standout of the meal was the lobster rolls. Crisp, but buttery soft roll with fresh crab and a light sauce that didn’t overshadow the lobster. It was so good we ordered it a second time. We also had the lemon poppy seed dessert as well. All said, each dish was very good, but be mindful it is small plate, and each dish was quite small. If you’re hungry, order a bit more than you might think.

Atmosphere: Very simple design, and a nice coffee bar at the entrance to sit and sip on a quiet day. It is a new establishment, so décor is a bit sparse at the moment.

Service: I would say this may make or break the restaurant for some people. The chef and bartender will come up and discuss courses, drinks and other options for the night. For some, they might be taken aback, however it is a personalized service for all that enter, and everyone we talked to was very kind and extremely helpful.

Overall 8/10: A very small but tasty menu, amazing personalized service and a small but cute space. A great idea for a hip date night in the downtown area. Be mindful that food portions are small, costs are similar to many other higher end small plate restaurants, and service may be different to your liking. All said though, highly recommend trying this new gem to the city out, and we will definitely be back in for a coffee and lobster roll.

Recently visited for the first time and wow was I impressed!! The seasonal menu is phenomenal, super interesting and well done. The entire space was extremely unique and cozy while still being an entirely different atmosphere than I had ever experienced at a coffee shop before.

I enjoy the atmosphere. The food tastes good, but is kind of inconsistent. Like, every time I go, the portions are different.

Interval has always had great coffee and delicious food and their new menu does not disappoint! I would recommend every single thing they offer. It can be a little pricey, but for the high quality and special/unique ingredients they use, it is absolutely worth it.

Love the coffee and the food. The menu is limited and always changing and I have enjoyed everything I tried. I highly recommend the yogurt bowl. The space is really small though and it gets really crowded on weekends. Fabulous service.

Very very good iced coffee. A little on the higher end for price for coffee, but worth it! The inside is very trendy and looks like it can be in an instagram picture. The staff is very friendly and always make great recommendations. Good place to hang out and sip some coffee!

Went in on a Saturday morning based on some comments left on an article about breakfast spots. I thought there would be more of a menu, it was really just toast and oatmeal. Coffee was decent. My big complaint is the service. They were friendly enough with their regulars, but I had to flag down attention for a menu, to order my coffee, to order my food, etc. It absolutely infuriates me to walk into a restaurant and have to ask for a menu- I mean what do you think I’m there for?

Really great service. The drinks we got were really good too but the menu options are a little limited and very different from other coffee shops so it's great if you're looking for something unique. I'm hoping they expand their menu.

Top notch third wave coffee with excellent pour overs and knowledgeable baristas - lots of tables outdoors and yes the bathroom is open (silly how many coffee shops are open to take you money but still have a closed restroom ) anyway one of the best independents around - great people!

This place is excellent! The barista, Stevie, was absolutely wonderful. She was kind, helpful, beautiful, and oh so creative! She was also a great conversationalist. My husband and I love craft coffee but to be honest he knows all the good places and I’m just along for the ride. He wasn’t with me but FaceTimed me and was asking me questions about the different coffee and such and Stevie was so kind to take over and answer all his questions via FaceTime. The coffee was excellent and so was the atmosphere. The place is beautiful, clean, and the music was fun! We live in North Dakota but anytime we are in Milwaukee we will definitely be going back! I can’t say enough good things about the place!

Let’s be honest, people are what make a good place great and this place is lucky to have such wonderful help-Stevie! She should get a raise she’s so awesome!
