Really fun, funky little place. They serve many varieties of tea, coffee, sodas and food.

One occasion there was live music, it was a tad bit loud, but not overwhelming. The music was appropriate for the setting as well as the crowd.

The price is what you would expect for a pseudo crunchy granola type coffee house (a bit more than McD's). That said, The Root Note's atmosphere won't make you want to heave your ingested chicken byproduct nuggets like at those "golden arches".

Enjoy...

I absolutely love the root note! Great service, great food, and of course... great coffee!

For a small place, these guys get some great performances. Only reason why I have this rated at a 4 of 5 is that the menu specializing in crepes isn't really my thing and many of the music talent they get pack the place soo much you can't move. About the menu, there is only one item on it that I like. But I had to talk to them about it and they were able to make sure I would enjoy it... and they have a very well educated staff about their crepes. I would make it 4.5 stars if I could because the Beer and Wine they have is TOP NOTCH! If you visit, you just need to talk to them and they will find you something.

The best coffee (Kickapoo), and the best crepes ever! The So Gouda is my all time favorite crepe (with extra sweet potatoes....especially if they’re purple). If I could I would eat here far more often than I do.

Great atmosphere with wonderful coffee and crepes! The Cremlin is the best (if you like mushrooms)! Nice beer selection too, with lots of local options. Frequent live music on a cozy, tree-framed stage, along with WiFi and board games to play make it a great place to hang out!

Great atmosphere, food/beverage selection, awesome staff, and comfortable seating. Has a vast array of different types of events it hosts i.e. open mic night, live music, and more! Day and nights are completely different vibes to enjoy such as meeting up with someone for coffee and/or crepes, studying, leisurely reading or relaxing, or a fairly priced meal. 10/10 in my opinion the owners and staff have created a great place to add to the downtown La Crosse’s variety of local businesses to offer.

Such a cool vibe walking into the place. The staff is top notch and the coffee and food are even better. When we were leaving we wanted some to go food for our kids. The gals at the counter helped in making an off menu yogurt parfait that my kids truly enjoyed. Next time I'm in lacrosse I'm stopping in for sure

Adorable! Absolutely amazing crepes and their coffee is wonderful. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy. We were only visiting that area but if we ever go back I know where to get breakfast

Great food, staff is great. Ambiance is nice, took me a little bit to adjust to the remodel, overall I like it.

The crepes are amazing!! I traveled here on a road trip and was delighted to enjoy an afternoon snack of Nutella crepe.
Their hot chai latte was not my friend's favorite, as it was watered down (?) and spicy. I had the iced chai latte and went back to add milk to tame the spice. I appreciated the unique recipe but think it needs a little tweaking. With milk added, I drank it with no problem. I have heard their coffee is great.
The customer service was excellent and atmosphere is nice. I love seeing walls of art or murals in a coffee shop and seeing the industrial feel of exposed pipes & brick. It was busy, but not too much. People seemed to really enjoy coming in.
