A fantastic and quirky shop that befits the nature of Shepherdstown. The owner is personable, knowledgeable, opinionated, and clearly enjoys his work. What I find lacking in many coffee these days is the creativity that coffee needs to thrive and inspire the younger generations. People from every slice of life come to get coffee, from writers who seek a morning pick-me-up, to blue collar workers with their red eyes. Many many coffee shops these days have very bland, minimalist interiors, have menus whose items I can count on one hand, and have prices that I struggle to justify the quality of their coffee.
And that's not to say every coffee shop is bland and limited. There are plenty of cafes in the tri-state area with their own quirks and unique qualities that garner their success. But Lost Dog bears the torch as the weirdest, most creative shop I have ever had the pleasure to visit. Since my girlfriend is a townie I find myself in shepherdstown almost every day, which makes me a frequent visitor and loyal customer to this hallmark of Shepherdstown. This town would never be the same without Lost Dog.

Saw me carrying a coffee from a different place & remade it better for free hahahaha

Sometimes when you meet new people you just instantly get each other and what you're about. I had the genuine pleasure of coming here today, the Double Stuf Oreo espresso smoothie đ is, impossibility aside, BETTER than it sounds. And the atmosphere was đ€đœđđ» incredible. I will definitely be back, so many things to try!

VERY RUDE & POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
I ordered two cappuccinos and hadnât realised they also had food (and I wasnât asked for anything else when I first ordered coffee). I asked then for two bagels and the owner said (verbatim) âI donât meant to reprimand you, but we could have been done by now, now that is going to take longerâ.
If a cafe wants efficient ordering then have a clear menu, not tiny signs scattered around the building facade from the 90s.

Decent cup of Joe. Really hot so be careful. Seems to be the only place in West Virginia to get coffee on a Sunday. I know there is a McStarbucks on every street corner, but I actually like my coffee. Lost dog does it right.

If youâre reading through and seeing the negative reviews, just laugh and ignore them. They have to be trolls making things up. We just stopped in today for a cup of coffee and a mocha. Drank the coffee black and the flavors were amazing with no bitterness. Top quality beans and prep here with friendly service.

Very unique drinks (along with all of the classics). Decided to get the vanilla wet dog and was not disappointed! Staff was friendly as well. Will be stopping by next time I'm in shepardstown again.

Don't know if you can buy/ purchase art anymore as all orders are at street side window... which totally is better...was always a tight entry/exit. But who goes for the art any who... been getting coffee there since "96" yum as I got to say! Garth knows how to mix em....so worth it.

The Earl Grey Tea is brewed fresh when you order it. It's delicious!!! I do want to warn that those who have had the chai tea at Starbucks might be cautioned that the Chai tea here is not sweet at all. It definitely has a bite to it.
For those who are lactose intolerant, there are alternate milk choices.
For coffee enthusiasts, this is the place to go. It's also quirky and fun.

Best coffee shop for 50 miles in all directions (probably more!). Excellent service, attention to details, yet very approachable. You won't do better than Lost Dog.
