We went to Ocean Shores for Father's Day and I knew it would be busy no matter where we went. What I didn't know was the staff at the Sunny Beach Cafe would act like they were put out by us coming in there. Whenever I went to the ocean as a kid we typically went to Homeport. But this place looked inviting so thought I would change it up and make new memories for my family.
Big mistake.
Our server was super cranky and acted like it was a huge inconvenience to help us to our table and to give us a menu. It took about 15 minutes to have her come back to take our order. My husband and I are both following a strict meal plan, so had our order amended for what we could have. Nothing crazy, just no sauces or a bun-instead we asked for it wrapped in lettuce. You would have thought I had asked for it to have been cut up in bite sized pieces and had fed to me.
She told us she would have to go back to the kitchen and babysit our order so it didn't get messed up. Then came back and said they were out of chicken so what did we want to do instead. So we switched it up for a burger instead, same prep work.
To be fair the food was good. The burger was flavorful but it shouldn't have been so difficult of an experience. She mentioned they had been super busy and she was ready to be done with the day.
I work in member service. If I had that same approach to my members and acted put out when doing the basic job functions I would lose my job. Even if she is one of the owners I feel she should work behind the scenes and not be up front with people. Even on busy days were my work is super busy, and complicated things are going on, I still make sure to make people feel welcomed and thank them for coming in.
Next time I'll go to Homeport or just bring a picnic lunch instead.

Really cute little place. The sourdough toast was SO good. Make time to have breakfast here on a beach visit. Super worth it.

We love this place. Some of the best food in ocean shores, for sure. My family and I went in on a Friday morning and it was packed and busy but the waitress was super nice and attentive. I ordered the French toast breakfast and in no time our food was out and it was delicious!! The homemade bread is killer. And the waitress was fantastic and funny, had us laughing when she would come check on us. Highly recommend!

They were very busy when we came but the hostess/waitress was very kind and attentive and the food once it came was excellent!

Cute place. Design great for letting outside in on warm sunny days with big see thru garage doors. Worst omelets ever!!! Eggs in mine were runny. Sent it back and then edible but obvious whites & yokes never well mixed. Great waitress said she had to fight with cook about my choice of pepper jack cheese, was cook protesting? Husband said worst omelets ever!

Walked up to find a "Closed" sign on door, but since tables were packed I walked in. Was told they were very backed-up, but if we wanted to wait, they'd take care of us. We chose to wait, and were glad we did. Unlike the other, more highly rated, breakfast restaurants there was a place to sit while we waited.
We were actually seated and our order taken very shortly, and were given good fresh coffee while we waited to get our food.
Wife had Pancake Combo w/Bacon & Toast: eggs cooked to order, pancakes very good, bacon good. Toast & berry jam were very good.
I had French Toast Combo w/Bacon: same result as wife's, but the French Toast was "killer" with *really* good in-house made bread. My egg was a bit greasy [with butter?], but still very good.
Server and owner (?) were very pleasant, and service was excellent for how busy they were when we arrived.
The ambiance is not as nice as others, but the food and service may well be better. Will definitely return when in Ocean Shores.

It was good but the hash browns not so much. The bread is amazing but it is sad that this place is going out of business

First time coming here and I thought it was an adorable place with good diner breakfast food. I overheard the owner talking and she mentioned that her husband the cook was 72 years old…! And he was still busting out awesome omelettes- and they make their own bread. The sourdough was soft and thick cut. My husband got steak and eggs and wasn’t expecting the steak to be so tender and cooked to the medium rare he asked for. We really enjoyed this breakfast spot and wish them all the blessings!

Very nice and friendly, they saw my family outside and already set the table up.

Good food and friendly service. Plus the kids portions are actually appropriate for children and priced as such. Had the BBQ bacon chicken sandwich and a cup of chowder. Both excellent.
