The Smoky Mug

Loved the employees and the atmosphere. The food was good just not my cup of tea. This was our first time going and we went on a Friday night. Maybe another night that's not a taco night would be better.

We were passing by Richmond and found this place before we hit the road - the food was absolutely incredible!

The staff's friendliness made our visit even more memorable! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the vicinity!

The huevos rancheros are what I would recommend!

My wife and I decided to give The Smokey Mug a try. The cinnamon bagel was a little tough and too much creme cheese. But, we also brought a small container of pork BBQ. It was the best BBQ that we have eaten. It was tender and the smoke flavor was dynamic.

Stopped here today for the first time, the woman at the counter (owner, I'm assuming) was so kind! You can tell they put their heart into the decor. The coffee was good and the menu looked extensive for a small coffee shop. Excited to come back and try more stuff. :)

Let’s start with the Coffee. Yes please! Delicious taste with plenty of options for all the coffee lovers. However the food knocked it OUT OF THE PARK!! Highly recommend the hummus and veg with the rosemary bagel (insert drool here) and the avocado toast with a generous amount of fresh avocado and delicious pickled onions (WOWsers).
The staff welcomed us with smiles and the aurora of the entire place felt like a nice warm hello from a good friend.

I will be back...again and again and again!

We're new to the Brookland Park area and discovered The Smoky Mug the morning after we moved in, bleary eyed and badly in need of caffeine. Everyone is super friendly and the coffee and food are top notch.

Now I am proud to say that I was their first BBQ customer! Try the brisket folks....seriously drop what you're doing and check out this awesome neighborhood gem!!

The bagels are delicious, the coffee also great and the staff very nice. Decor is also very cool! Would be 5 stars and idk if I have bad luck but they seem to always be out of everything bagels.

Edit: they have fixed the everything bagels issue!

Brisket was surprisingly bland, tough, and the fat wasn’t well rendered. Sauces were good and offered a nice variety of flavor options. Great atmosphere and community though.

Got pulled pork, brisket, and Mac. Pork and Mac was great. Brisket had some really good pieces, but some were just slightly overcooked. Not quite as buttery as ZZQ. I liked the sauces. One spicy vinegar (favorite), one sweet but complex.

Very cute and cozy coffee shop run by members of the neighborhood who care about our local community. They are very friendly and the coffee was delicious. Looking forward to the Barbecue once they start serving! I’m sure it will be delicious as well
