Coalescence Coffee Company: A Community-Oriented Coffee Shop
If you're looking for a coffee shop that not only serves great coffee but also gives back to the community, Coalescence Coffee Company is the place to be. This coffee shop is a not-for-profit organization that aims to build a genuine community in Norfolk, Virginia. Their commitment to seeing the city flourish is evident in the quality of their coffee and the warm atmosphere they provide.
The baristas at Coalescence Coffee Company are passionate about the journey of understanding the chemistry behind an excellent cup of coffee. They are obsessed with the pursuit of perfecting extraction, refining their skills as baristas, and constantly pushing the boundaries of beverage creation. Whether you're in the mood for a classic latte or a unique signature drink, you won't be disappointed with their offerings.
The shop's interior is bright, open, and full of natural light, making it a great place to study, work, or chat with friends. They also reserve their rooms for private events for a reasonable fee. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, making you feel at home as soon as you walk in.
Coalescence Coffee Company offers a variety of gluten-free baked goods, pastries, and cookies that are uncommon. They also have a limited selection of quiches that are pleasantly surprising. However, some customers have noted that their pastry selection is minimal.
Overall, Coalescence Coffee Company is a great place to enjoy quality coffee, chill on wifi, and relax. Their attention to detail in brewing quality pour-overs and consistently producing quality coffee products sets the bar high and makes an impact on the coffee community at large.

Coalescence is an incredible local coffee shop that is right in my neighborhood. The people who work there are always friendly and the coffee is my favorite in the area. No “full meal” food but the snacks and little baked items they have are very tasty. It is also a great atmosphere to hang out in or get some work done if you need to. Coalescence is easily first or second on my list of coffee shops in the Hampton Roads (Cafe Stella is great as well).

One should not have to hate themselves to enjoy a cup of coffee.
To finish the foul substance I received here, one must be seeking penance for the the most diabolical of sins. For clarity, this is not my first time at this place, I tried it a few months ago and my experience did not improve from that, so here is my take: The atmosphere at this place is quite astringent, perhaps institutional -chic if that's a thing. I expect others may feel more at home in the bright, wide open, environment so no knocks here really but it's just not my taste; I prefer a warmer and more inviting space when I plunk down for some coffee and a couple hours of remote work. The drink itself is where the low stars come in. It took near 15 minutes for two people to make one double espresso; no other orders were made during that time. Much toiling and measuring went into the tiny espresso cup. It would seem the baristas learned how to make coffee in a chemistry lab. I imagine it was made absolutely by the book, should such a book exist. Subsequently, I received a perfectly executed cup of bitter sludge. An espresso, one of my favorite coffee treats, managed to climb to the summit of worst food experiences of my life. On a recent trip to Italy, for a single euro (about 1 USD right now), I could get some of the best espresso I ever tasted at a travel stop. It would be hot and on the counter in moments, without much toiling beyond the muscle memory of attendant working the espresso machine. It only got better at more formal restaurants. Love was built into process over there and I feel that's what this place is missing. Less science and more love could, perhaps, make the necessary improvement. That and dumping whatever roast they are using. I love to see independent businesses thrive. I love good coffee. Ultimately this may just not be my cup of tea (coffee).

Very nice, modern and clean coffee shop! Good selection too. The lady who made my coffee was very sweet and put the cutest decoration on top.
Thank you :)

Great place, friendly people. The mocha is really good and my girlfriend gets a latte nearly every day. The workers here remember your face and know what I'm going to order on site.

There’s no garbage can?! Otherwise the coffee was pretty good, but expensive but what isn’t these days.

This place is amazing. Exactly what a coffee house should be. Clean, large enough for distancing. They haven't tried to put too many tables to over crowd the place.

Met a friend here to catch up - it was a wonderful choice! The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and the coffee was great. I tried their seasonal sweet potato drink and it tasted like Thanksgiving in the most wonderful way. Perfect vibes for a rainy day!
Wishing there was a place like this back home, will definitely be coming back next time I'm in town 🧡
