Absolutely wonderful tapas-style fare. Plus, of course, delicious pies. They seem to be going a brisk takeout business, but we sat outside. It was a bit blustery and misty, so we sat under the front instead of at the cute picnic tables around the side. Octopus was an outstanding entry, especially after some over-complicated meals I’ve experienced recently elsewhere.
Food is 5 stars, no hesitation, but I think the server was not in the mood to put up with our questions that day. I never thought to find myself in one of those “What’s the soup du jour?” “It’s the soup of the day” exchanges, but it happened twice while we were there, and it was a strange miscommunication that left me wondering if I’d been rude. I have some food restrictions, so I have to ask questions about certain things—also sometimes I’m just trying to figure out if I’ll like something.
Another person who served us some pie was friendly and happy to answer questions, so who knows. I might have even encountered a chef who was chipping in instead of a server. Would I go back? In a heartbeat! I might just also read up on the menu beforehand.

Disappointed. My sandwich was burned but on the plus side, my dog loved getting the half we ate there. The table next to me complained about the delay on food as it was 1015 and took 30 min. I know it is a fav of cville and glad everyone else has had a great time but it was bad - sammy and drinks. I give four because I don’t want to down a local business but it was my dogs dinner tonight. I probably should have said something while there but the atmosphere is odd. Sorry!

Incredible menu, everything was fresh and made in house. Cozy atmosphere, flavorful food, excellent service.

Outstanding service. Extremely friendly staff. Very very clean. The food is nothing short of spectacular. The muffuletta is awesome. We were too stuffed to the pie but it looked great. Highly recommended. Eat outside if it’s nice. Great place.

To echo some of the previous comments, it was as though the woman at the counter was extremely irritated at everyone who came in. We were ignored for about 5 minutes (not even a hello) and then when she eventually came over she just said "What do you want?"...not the warmest breakfast environment, but not the end of the world. What was absolutely a killer was the food.
Before we get there, let's talk about the menu. There are no paper copies, so you have to rely on the chalk board. The titles on the chalk board were written by someone that cares, but the menu looks like it was written by a rushed child who was intent on making sure no one can understand what they wrote. And, our friendly hostess seemed to be irritated when every customer that came in commented on an inability to read the menu. See the attached picture to see what I mean.
Now, onto the food. The place is called Quality Pie, so I figured I'd start with a piece of apple pie. Despite being told it was made earlier that morning (it was only 930 at the time), it came out of the fridge (why would you refrigerate a fresh pie that you expect to sell that day?), but even though it was cold, it totally fell apart on the plate. The crust separated from the filling and it became a pie mess. The hostess/waitress noticed this, attempted to smoosh it back together, and, not thinking I noticed her doing that and failing, decided to try and cover it up with whipped cream.
How did the pie taste? It tasted as though it had been dressed with vinegar. Look, I know properly made apple pie has a touch of vinegar in it. But, you should not think you are eating vinegar pie when it's done. Without having a 50-50 ration of heavy whipped cream to pie, it was entirely inedible. Like, bad bad.
We also ordered an apple fritter, beignet, at chocolate chip cookie. The cookie had decent flavor but was extremely stale. At least it tasted good. As to the fried treats, there is a special arrogance to serve fritters and beignets cold (items that take 30 seconds to fry fresh). There's a reason no where else serves them cold: it is disgusting. It would be like offering someone McDonald's fries three hours after they were made. Why wouldn't they just fry them fresh for people?
My wife also paid $15 (!!!) for what turned out to be the most horrendously made salmon lox meal we have ever had. They basically took a piece of old rye bread, smeared some cheese spread on it, took a handful of undressed (why?) greens, a piece of store bought lox, and a mangled egg and called that a meal. The egg (see attached photo) somehow overcooked the yolk while leaving runny whites. That's bad execution to the point that it would be hard to replicate. But, replicate they did as the woman sitting behind us sent her eggs back to be recooked for the same reason. We spared ourselves from having another interaction with the hostess/waitress and took it home for our dog to eat.
Positive: The coffee was quite good, according to my wife. Although, in a first from a breakfast place, they charge you extra for refills. It was as though they wanted to make sure that exactly zero of the experience there was good.
On a beautiful saturday morning, it is no surprise that this had to be the only breakfast place in town that was virtually empty. Now we know why. We wasted $29 dollars on poorly executed food, felt uncomfortable the entire time, and left entirely unsatisfied.

With little knowledge of the menu or style of service, I entered Quality Pie just looking for a filling breakfast, preferably on the greasy side ;) As the cashier was suggesting the most popular items, I was immediately drawn to the pork belly biscuit. I also ordered a Berliner Weisse style fruity beer. The food was outstanding! The salsa verde, fried egg, and pickled onions were delicious and added some moisture to the pork belly (not the most moist I've ever had, but delicious in the context). The cost of the entree was $12 and fueled me for the whole afternoon.
The food was brought to me outside and my plates cleared for me. Upon returning my beer glass the owner even suggested I try the beer with a raspberry syrup next time and was sorry he hadn't suggested it sooner. I'll be back for more delicious brunches & next time I'll have to try a coffee or mimosa!
Delicious biscuit meal and a great spot to sit outdoors and watch busy Avon street go by.

Finally got to quality pie for a little breakfast. Nice little spot. Not too busy. I couldn't decide on what to get. Unfortunately, this was my second breakfast so I just got the egg biscuit and coffee. Both were quite good. Next time, I'll splurge on the fried chicken biscuit work siracha butter.

We’ve only eaten here one time but we were left disappointed. The employees made us feel like they were doing us a favor by serving us food which was only average. We probably wont come back again.

This is one of the best meal I have had in Charlottesville! Outstanding
Highly recommended!

Loved this place the minute I walked in. Great 60s vibe. And dog-friendly. I had the peach cobbler and a cortado. I'll be back to try items off their diverse savory menu. Kudos to Tomas for hanging on through the pandemic and standing tall as a local shop owner.
