Back Country Cafe

The food was okay, but the coffee had a very bizarre taste. I asked my son to try it and he agreed. It gave me the shivers just tasting it. I love coffee, all sorts of coffee, but I could not drink this. Maybe it's the water.

Awesome portion sizes and unlimited coffee pours. Quaint interior with cool knickknacks. Unfortunately, we were told a 25 minute wait and it ended up taking a whole hour. Understand it's tough to seat eight people, but an accurate number would have changed our decision on where to eat.

After discovering our hotel's breakfast was bread and coffee we searched local eateries and ended up here. Wow, what a pleasant surprise!!! We had waffles (mine had the maple sausage) and coffees. Everything was as good as it gets. The coffee was strong but not bitter and the waffles with maple syrup were awesome. The owner was pleasant and attentive. He kept talking up the Bloody Mary and I succumbed to his pitch. I'm glad I did as I usually avoid having these as most are stock mixes but this was perfect. The next time we are in the Rutland area we will drive the half hour to eat here again.

JD was a one man show, friendly and hard working. Food offerings and food purchased was great. A hidden gem!!

When my family and I went they were very busy. The waitresses handled everything perfectly! The food was great and we would absolutely go back again.

This place was amazing. We went on Monday. So cute and cozy and Vermont The waiter dan was wonderful. All the food we ordered: Sausage and biscuits, taco omelette pig in blanket and Irish poached eggs was delicious!!!!!!!!!our new favorite breakfast spot

We showed up with 7 hungry kids and 3 tired adults. The waiter was spot on, he took orders and coordinated with all the kids like a pro. Food was great, quick and there was 10 smiles when we left. We will be back (that is a warning and a promise!!!!).

This was my 1st time eating here and I thought both good and service were very good. They offer a terrific variety and my breakfast was delicious. I recommend!🍴

We had an awesome breakfast, and good coffee too! Freshly made food, and my father praised their real maple syrup and exceptional pancakes.

Would definitely return for another!
