Riverside Cafe

The western omelette was amazing, but kinda big lol
Our waitress was kinda rude today, but whatever lol it's our 1 year anniversary and I don't care
The place was pretty clean & a very quiet, cute little country cafe. Not too shabby for a breakfast cafe I would say but also not really a big selection on breakfast.

Several years ago, my husband and I were passing through La Grange and stopped at Riverside Cafe for lunch. We were sorely disappointed. The food was utterly flavorless.

But this morning my son-in-law and I decided to give it a other chance and stopped for breakfast. The waitress was very nice and also attentive (but not so attentive as to be a nuisance - just the right amount). The eggs were fine and the biscuit was okay. The potatoes were ridiculously over-seasoned. The gravy was tasteless. And the ham poisonously salty (and this from a salt-loving woman who adds salt to pickles and pizza).
Needless to say, I will not be giving Riverside Cafe money a third time. .

Absolutely one of the best breakfasts I have ever had! My fiancé and I stopped in on our way through and were beyond impressed. If you like the feel of an authentic country diner, they nailed it.
I wish we’d gotten our servers name because she was so sweet.
Definitely our go-to from now on when we come through the area 🙂

Chicken fried steak was Stupendous! Little Bit ( our server) was Excellent! Never been to La Grange & stopped in on road trip 'cause we were hungry, So Glad we did! It was Wonderful! Thank you for your service!!

This place is great. The owner is nice & the staff go far above & beyond 2 take EXCELLENT care of their customers. The cook does great at cooking our food to meet our requests. 1st. time I went was for breakfast. They were very busy & understaffed bc a waitress didn't show up that morning. The waitress, waiter & cook who was there worked excellently together 2 care for all the customers in there. I think the waitress, Brandy & waiter, Blake deserve a huge raise & public acknowledgement for their outstanding service. They are the only reason we continue 2 go back there every chance we get. Thank you Blake & Brandy & cook, (I didn't get the name), for making this 1 of our favorite places 2 eat.

Juevos Ranchero breakfast good. Only 1 piece of bacon though. Service was good and friendly.
A nice local place to have a cheap meal and ice tea.

Just got asked to leave because I asked for a steak to be cooked longer. I was told a RAW Steak was what I had to eat when I ordered a rare cooked steak. I guess it was the owner because she was completely rude and condescending towards me and my husband. The steak was still Cold in the middle, like 90°f. And yes you prissy little now it all. I can tell by just touching it. You should never treat a customer like that when YOU put it as a specail!!

I wanted to try a small local place in my Texas travels. And I found it in La Grange Texas. This cafe looks like a small-town cafe from the days of the forgotten past.

They had a counter. They had an off-the main seating room. The breakfast, which is my favorite meal, was typical small town cafe fare. But that is what I wanted. That was what I got.

Breakfast was delicious. The grits made me smile. The biscuits and gravy were ... sub par, but the atmosphere made up for my disappointment. I am a B&G snob.

The menu was extensive and the wait staff was great. It was not very busy for a mid-Tuesday morning. I would return if I had the chance. I will tell my friends of this place.

My only problem was that the restroom was very hot, and there was plumbing problems in the old building, which required ALL paper be put in a wastebasket nestled by the toilet. It was a shock to say the least as I looked in it, and, sure enough, all wipe and such was in there...used...ick! It wasn't chocolate yo!

Travel through town to go here. You'll be glad you did.
