The ham and cheese croissant is delicious. Coffe was great as wellm really nice looking place. Tables are made out of old doors. The whole vibe of the place is modern and has plenty of seating. Plenty of parking in the field on the side of the business if the street parking is taken. It's a bit on the pricey side though but it's kind of expected for the area.

This place is a must for coffee enthusiasts. I feel at the moment is a hidden gem. Is not hidden at all but it just opened and wow !

Knowing about this place feels like what I’ve always imagine being part of the cool kids in school must have felt like. There’s no Houston Food & Drinks account talking about it, for now.

The owner is the coolest and most down to earth guy you can come across with. Very knowledgable too.

Coming back for sure

New coffee space in Midtown!

Great in-house roasted coffee located in beautiful building on Milam. Enjoyed the atmosphere, music and all of the different seating options. I'll definitely be a regular here!

For serious Coffee people.
Free parking just to the left of it. Water mineralization for coffee. Ramen. Roaster on premises. Legit credentials. Wow.

I made second visit the next day and sampled the following: A coffee from Guatemala as a drip coffee, their espresso blend, the Guatemala coffee as an espresso. Of the three, my preference, moving forward is the Guatemala as an espresso, I'll probably try it as an Americano.

There are so many amazing gadgets to peruse. Methods for brewing, compact single use roasters, grinders...things I've read about but never seen in practice.

The music they play here is really bad and annoying hip hop but at least they keep the volume low.

And again, there is free parking just to the left of the place.

There is also a little household cute goods store on the same block.

Highly recommended -- at Un Caffe.
From Roastery Magazine. A review that is better than I could do myself so, here goes:

"A new roastery and coffee bar in Midtown Houston called Un Caffè is giving guests a taste of Italian-style coffee with a distinct focus on craft and performance.

Un Caffè Founder, Roaster and Barista Soonkack Kook also embraces the Italian cultural practice of greeting each guest at the bar.

“They can watch every [drink-making] performance,” Kook recently told Daily Coffee News. “I give them surprise drinks. I ask them how their day is going.”Kook, who initially moved to the United States from Korea for college 20 years ago, spent the past 14 months renovating a 1,900-square-foot space inside Un Caffè’s 90-year-old building. The result is a modern roastery and retail bar awash in shades of red, green and white, reflecting Kook’s reverence for the birthplace of espresso, Italy.

“Espresso is an Italian culture,” said Kook. “I get it, light roasting is the trend now, but I wanted to know Italian roasting, too. When my coffee journey began I wanted to learn trendy light roasting, but at the same time I wanted to offer dark roasting to my customers.”

A certified Q Grader and authorized Specialty Coffee Association trainer (AST), Kook is already an expert in coffee, but he credits 2016 Espresso Italiano Champion Daehoon Park with helping him develop his methods for Italian-style coffee.

For lighter roasts, Kook said he embraces a technique known as Environmental Temperature Response Roasting (ETeRR), as developed by Joo Sunghyun, winner of the 2017 Korea Coffee Roasting Championship.
“With green beans having 12-14% moisture at the beginning, as you roast, the water in beans will evaporate,” Kook said of the technique. “The amount of the heat should be adjusted depending on how much water is left in the beans, which can be estimated by looking at the environmental ROR [rate of rise].”
At the back of the shop, Kook uses an Ikawa Pro100 sample roaster prior to loading small batches into an Arc 800 roaster or larger production batches in a Probat P12.
Those roast support classic espresso options prepared through a Slayer Steam espresso machine, or drip and cold coffees made with a Ground Control brewing system. The Einspänner, a Viennese drink consisting of espresso topped with a small amount of whipped cream, is another European import by way of Korea.

“Einspänner is a popular drink in Korea, and you don’t see the drink here,” said Kook. “Unfortunately my whipping machine broke on the second day, so I quickly changed that to an affogato, but it is coming back once I receive my brand new whipping machine.”
A one-person operation on most days, Un Caffè is not pursuing wholesale accounts, although the capacity is there. For now, Kook said he wants Un Caffè to be a friendly coffee resource for the community while he continues to develop his own skills.

“I feel the love from the community and I want to keep this vibe,” said Kook. “I want my shop to be a place for all my present and future friends and community.”

Cool vibe. Great coffee. 🇮🇹

Soon spent the last few years traveling the world learning the best approaches to roasting beans and making coffee. His favorite spot during that time was South Korea. He said one of the popular post-career ventures is opening a coffee shop.

One of his specialties is the Einspanner, a Viennese coffee made with espresso and whipped cream.

Cute little coffeeshop, perfect to work or study at. Their menu has a lot of strong coffees - espressos and americanos, but they have lattes and syrups for those who prefer as well. I had the iced honey lavender latte and liked it, although it was a bit strong on the lavender and I did need to add some sweetness for my personal taste. Prices are on par with other coffeeshops in the area at $6.17 with tax for a regular sized latte

Brand-new coffee shop in the heart of midtown Houston! I Can not say it enough that Houston’s coffeeshop style needed a change and this is the one. Run, bike, walk here all my espresso lovers (even if you’re not), because I am telling you it is a different coffee shop experience; the aesthetic and architecture are on point from concrete floors to the giant skylight on the roof that brings in amazing lighting into the white lab where your coffee is made. I had the chance to visit on Sunday 3/12 I ordered the ICED VANILLA CLOUD americano and it was pure perfection and the taste is even better! The atmosphere while I was there getting some work done was amazing, very friendly owner/baristas just have in mind that it will get busy and there’s only so much 2 people can do at once. Before I left I ordered 2 more drinks those being: BERRY ESPRESSO ICED and an ICED OATMILK MATCHA and they did not disappoint either. The BMI smelled amazing and it tasted very smooth and strong the MATCHA was good and yes it is REAL MATCHA!

So happy that this place opened. This part of town didn't really have many options for good coffee. It was a long time coming, and you can tell that a lot of love and attention to detail went into building out the coffee shop. There are power outlets (regular and USB) throughout, and the wifi is speedy. The coffee is excellent. Tried the berry espresso iced, and it was such a pleasant surprise. You could taste the quality espresso, but with a hint of berry (not sweet). They offer breakfast tacos (potato, chorizo, and sausage), regular sized croissants, as well as small ones (regular, chocolate, almond). They also have a nice selection of natural wines. The decor is very thoughtful, everything from repurposed doors as tables, the red tile in the bathrooms, and the benches closer to the windows, which are a little quieter than sitting right by the speaker towards the register. Service is impeccable, as it's one of the reasons the owner has built his loyal clientele.

Fantastic owner, great vibes, incredible flat whites. This coffee shop you can tell is truly a labor of love, and the owner is very kind and meticulous in his craft. Really loved the citrus iced americano, different from any other coffee drink I've ever tried. It's a great place to go in midtown, even if you're a casual coffee enthusiast like myself.

Great new coffee shop in Midtown! Hands down the best/friendliest service I've experienced at a cafe, and the barista seemed very knowledgeable and passionate about their coffee. I got the iced vanilla cloud and a chocolate croissant, both were excellent! I'll definitely be coming back to try some of their other drinks
