I have had to study for a board exam this week and I have been drawn to this place 4 days in a row. You know it's a good place if you keep coming back. I have had their mocha every time and their macadamia cookie is exactly what you need. Maybe I don't need all those calories but damn they were worth it. The staff was friendly and started to recognize me after the second day (could be because I ordered the same thing every time haha). I would recommend it to anyone who needs a place to get some work done without anyone bothering you! Can't wait to come back when I don't have to study!

Great space. I like how open the area is with lots of different options for seating.
I like that they support abolition of modern slavery, I didn't know that going in, but it's cool.
Everyone was friendly and I think I'll return when I'm in the area!

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Great coffee, great service and a great nonprofit

Came by this place when we were out for a walk and trying to find an open coffee shop on Easter Sunday. It was a good first impression and I would like to come back! The staff were all very kind, our iced americanos tasted great, and the ~vibe~ was very nice and relaxed. There were many cute items for sale as well such as essential oils, clothing, bags, chocolate, etc if you’re interested in that. Overall it seems like a cute place with a lot to offer and I would like to try it again!

Decided to try this place for the first time a few days ago and I highly recommend it. It's a nice and cozy coffee shop with plenty of seating to meet up with friends and indulge in a great cup of jo. Also, they do have food on the menu which I plan on trying in my next visit.

I Recently stopped by for a quick coffee , it's my second time visiting. I Loved the hazelnut iced latte with oat milk 😍😭 although I wasn't Able to try any of their food since the kitchen was already closed.. definitely have to come back to try their avocado toast!

A 2nd Cup is not an ordinary coffee shop. It is also a federal nonprofit organization to help spread awareness and end human trafficking in Houston, apparently one of the most intense regions of human trafficking according to the Department of Justice. Because of their mission and cause, I highly rate this coffee shop and applaud their passion to help others rather than help their own business.
Besides that, this is a rather larger coffee shop compared to most others inside the loop. Though still on weekends, tables can still be completely filled. The atmosphere is good for either a study environment (not too loud music or talking) or a chill place to catch up with a friend over coffee. The seating can be uncomfortable depending on which chair you're using as there are not cushions on the seats. I noticed the white round looking ones are more comfortable, while some others do not have backs. This could be seen as good or bad depending on the person, I know some people prefer uncomfortable seating because it helps them focus better while studying (not me though!). There also seems to be plenty of outlets, I noticed some power strips around the middle tables area, which is also a plus for studying.
The coffee itself, if you recognize the similarity of the taste, that is because they use the coffee beans from Boomtown, which uses local and ethically sourced coffee farms (another plus). So you can get the Boomtown coffee taste without the smell of cigars! I ordered the mocha while my boyfriend ordered a chai. Although it was just average tasting, I can see myself coming back here often.

Loved it!! And even better knowing we are supporting a great cause! Can't wait to go back again.

"It's coffee with a cause." In addition to A 2nd Cup being a modern café in the Heights area of Houston, it's also a federal non-profit fighting human trafficking in Houston. It was established in 2012 by Erica Raggett to develop resources that help create a second chance for survivors.
I came here without knowing about the cause, but I thought it was very cool to see. The coffee shop itself is very spacious, relaxed, and has plenty of tables and couches to lounge out or do work. They serve coffee beans from Boomtown Coffee, a local roaster that offers beans that are ethically sourced and bought directly from farmers.
I ordered the chai for $3.75. It was okay, nothing special. This place deserves 5-stars for the cause alone. I do like the atmosphere, and I see myself coming here in the future. They do blast their air conditioning during the summer months, so definitely bring a jacket or a sweater if you tend to get cold easily.

Had a good visit here. The interior is spacious, making it feel like a good place to relax. The latte was great. Nice place to enjoy a cup of coffee.
