A rare and unfortunate experience that I've never experienced before.. I'm from out of town, and here for work. I've come to the coffee shop several times over the past week and sat with my laptop for a few hours. I always eat, get a coffee, and tip 40-50% because I sit for a while. The first few times I felt unwelcome, never getting even a smile from the staff. Today was my last time visiting (though today I had a different waitress and she was a sweetheart). Around the lunch hour, I was kicked out by the owner. He told me he needed my table - there was NO ONE waiting, 3 tables unoccupied, and other individuals there working on their laptops, as well as a pair of women who had been there as long as I had. I was also about to order lunch and spend more of my money, but he had other plans, and hoped to make a buck off of customers that weren't even there yet.
Where I'm from, a location that's marketed as a coffee shop (especially with free wifi) has tables open to the public and they are invited to make it their home office for the day without complaint. Can't wait to go back to the coffee shops in my home state. So much for "southern hospitality."
Know before you go: he must have a timer on you the moment you sit down and dollar signs floating over your head. Plan on eating as fast as you can and leaving so he can turn tables rapidly and not bother forming lasting customer relationships.

Coffee is usually good and the atmosphere is quiet. The staff is usually very friendly and it has a great small coffee shop feel. Just be careful if you get one of their cold drinks; the cups are quite cheap. I have had two of them split open in my vehicle. They are also in the process of opening a full-service bistro. To do this, they have changed the inside layout of the store, and it's a little funky. They could have left the old layout and it would have been way better and still be able to serve food. The new floor plan makes it inconvenient on customers and the staff. If the staff is behind the counter, they cannot see the cash register very well where customers are waiting.

I just moved to the area and visited for the first time. While I had great service from my waitress, the manager moved me from my table in a very rude manner. I had come there to have a nice place to sit for my class online as I am still getting moved in to my home. I came early and purchased a tea, then at lunch purchased a meal. From that point on, I made sure there were always other tables available and only requested refills of water. I even asked my waitress if they needed me to move (as I was at the only table by an outlet and had been there 2 hours). She assured me I was okay to be there. Then the manger came by and said "I need you to move...I've let you stay here 2, no gosh, 3 hours already and this is the table I work from". I didnt mind being moved, but it was humiliating being treated like this in such an abrupt fashion as though I hadn't purchased a full meal already or offered to move several times during a break. Since I was in a video meeting I couldn't pause, I moved one table over and was so embarrassed I had tears going down my face through the rest of my class until it was over and I could leave. I loved the food, but I cannot go back and put money in a place that made me feel so unwanted.

Have eaten at this locally owned and operated restaurant twice now. Contrary to the serial reviewer who lamented the lack of masks, or the Wifi abuser who complained about the staff, I've found the staff, service and quality of food to be friendly, competent, and delicious. As for the masks, I found it refreshing that it was OPTIONAL in the restaurant! Common sense at last! Also, I didn't need to use the Wifi but appreciate that it is available. Once we moved to the area, I hope to frequent this establishment, well, more frequently.

Pass by this place everyday and never thought it was anything more than a coffee place until a friend brought me here for lunch. I’ve now been back multiple times. Food is phenomenal every time! I’ve gotten something different every time and I have never been disappointed! Food was so good this morning I decided it was time to find a place to write a review!! Best place in Shelbyville !

Great food and great service! We couldn't be happier about our time at Koffee Beanz! Robert was very attentive and made sure everything we had was perfect. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and cozy, can't wait to come back!

What a pleasant surprise! We were en route to Nashville from the Jack Daniel Distillery, and saw this cafe so decided to pop in.... great decision! This cafe made us feel so happy... the decor, the music, even how the menu boards are written on chalk boards.... made us feel like we were in Portland or Sydney.... and when we had the coffee, I could stop smiling... absolutely perfectly brewed ... will highly recommend this place to all coffee lovers!

This place is the Cat's pajamas!! Been here twice already! Got a "Good morning" when I entered and a "Have a good day" when I left. Coffee is wonderful (well the 2 I've tried). Music is relaxing and environment is cool! I recommend it!
