Ordered lunch take out. Food very good. Apple fritter was awesome! Can't wait to have another!

My family was so excited to try this place. Murfreesboro is very much in need of a nice cafe with espresso bar so I was thrilled to see an espresso machine. I want to give an honest + constructive review while noting that we hope they can continue to edit and fine tune the details because we would love to come back and try again. Things I loved: their aesthetic and branding. Chef's kiss! We came around noon on a Sunday and it was not crowded. We noted that it didn't smell very clean when we entered sadly- I was hoping for the smells of coffee and donuts but it smelt like B.O.- maybe old mop water? I also noticed that most tables were dirty and hadn't been swept/bussed in a while. We figured it must have been because we maybe came after a busy rush? There were lots of young employees and they are still learning and need a bit of confidence and training about the menu. The young person who took our order was very kind but when asked about different menu items, she didn't know and kept referring to the screen to try to answer our questions. While I appreciate her problem solving on the spot, I assumed she had just started and must be brand new or still learning the extensive menu (its really big!). We ordered an iced americano, a bagel sandwich, a grilled cheese and a chicken panini. The grilled chicken on my bagel sandwich was...slimy/wet and rubbery with lots of fat trimmings. I took it all off and ate some of the bagel but it was burnt (black) on the top so I couldn't finish it. My daughters grilled cheese was lovely- bread was delicious! My husband's sandwich was decent but he said that the panini would have been better with a different thickness of chicken (too chunky for a thin panini). The iced americano was very light, acidic and tasted more like watered down iced coffee- Im not sure if there was actual espresso shots in it or maybe the ratio to water and shot was a little off. I'll try the cold brew next time. We ordered a to go box of donuts and they are pretty good- probably fresher if we came in the morning.
Overall, I think this place has so much potential. I can tell they are still fine tuning. I think simplifying the menu big time and focusing on making a few things really good would go a long way. I also think they might need a more regular clean sweep around the dining area to keep it fresh and clean and utilize all of the employees they had on shift while we were there. We are rooting for them and hope to give it another whirl in a month or so.

Establisment not clean, entrance glass door was dirty. Self serve coffee station not clean. Won't be back unless they do some cleaning up.

Joe and Dough is the BEST Cafe in Murfreesboro, Hands Down. Their Doughnuts are pillowy soft to bite into and fulfill all the magnificent tasty criteria plus a little bit of their own magic touch. I asked for a blended Matcha with Oat Milk and it was Fan-flippin-tastic. I had to go back for another the next day! J&D Cafe is my #1 "Go-To". My Office Crew is in Total Agreement. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Whole family at the Sunday brunch and had a pretty good experience. A variety of seating options and inviting decor, and we were able to talk and hear each other even though it was busy. The service was competent, not overly friendly. I had the Murf omelet and it was huge and tasty despite grease collecting in the folds to the point I felt compelled to soak it up with a napkin. Paninnies were reportedly 'ok'. Overall just a little underwhelming, but I'd go back as it is in a convenient location where there's no other food. Also, the only GF donuts in town to my knowledge (though I didn't try on this trip).

Very nice selection of pastries from donuts to fried fruit pies. They also have vegan and gluten free donuts. The best of all was the customer service. Everyone was smiling and ready to help. Something that is rare these days.

me and my brother liked this place very much! especially my brother. he started crying after we left (happy and sad tears) he loved coffees but was a little bit sad that they have no bagels yet. he LOVES bagels but he’ll be okay!! he can’t wait to give his review on bagels. i also liked coffees a lot but he has much larger opinion. anyways, here’s a picture of my dog she doesn’t know about bagels and coffee but i think she would love it if she wasn’t a dog

Fav place now in the Boro for breakfast and a coffee. Doughnuts are great, oh and the freshly made bread as well. Owner clearly takes a lot of pride in his establishment and it shows.

Food is good but they’ll easily mess up your order.

After I read all these great reviews, I decided to make a trip there. The Google listing says they open at 5am. FYI they open at 6am. I got there at 5:39. The guy behind the counter saw me outside. You know what he did? He opened the store early!!! The donuts were fantastic as all the reviews state. But it’s the going beyond expectations that sold me.
